Vaughn's voice was soft, low, and his breath tickled her ear. She'd drifted off at some point, Snowball curled up against her chest, and she blinked awake at the gentle query.

Despite that, she knew it wasn't constant.

After all, if she were always so busy, then she wouldn't be frustrated by how much time she'd had to sit around and wait, doing nothing, while others did the hard work and risked themselves.
