The prince walked in without fanfare or any of the usual trappings of his nobility. Well. Save for his guards.

He arrived so casually that his guards seemed out of place and excessive, considering he walked in on the room of an empress, not a guard barracks.

But then, the point was to do it in front of the soldiers so that everyone would know exactly what he was doing.

Prince Caleb smirked at her with a gleam in his eye. "Ah, I'd heard rumors. But your beauty truly is the stuff of legends. The empress of Nevremia is always the most breathtaking beauty in the world, I see that now."

He said it like they hadn't met already in the dining room. Like she didn't know his game.

She snorted a little before she could stop herself and then shook her head, wrapping her arms around Snowball. "You are...inappropriate."
