There was a feeling of anticipation in the air that night, though she couldn't quite describe what that feeling was.

It was both unsettling and thrilling at once.

The night was dark. The moon hung overhead. There was a faint mist hanging over the cobblestone streets.

In the distance, she could see a red glow that reminded her faintly of a roaring fire.

It made her heart skip a beat.

It looked beautiful, as though she was watching a burning sunrise at the end of a moonless night.

She kept staring at it for a moment, captivated, wondering if it might be the sort of thing that would startle her. Like something charging out of the darkness on fire suddenly.

It was eerie.

Her mind was filled with thoughts of flames dancing over her skin, not burning but teasing with the heat.

She couldn't stop staring.
