Bab 223: I'm not hypercritical, I'm very strict

"Phoenix..." She murmured fondly as she embraced him.

He wrapped his arms around her, holding her close, and placed a gentle kiss against the crown of her head.

She was grateful for the chance to get her bearings again after her minor meltdown earlier. "I'm glad you're here."

"Of course..." He agreed softly. "And I am always happy to see you, my lovely little blossom..."

Isabelle sighed and rested her cheek against his chest. He smelled wonderful, like cinnamon and vanilla, mixed with hints of musk. The scent seemed to envelop her senses completely.

"You seem distressed..." He murmured as he held her tightly.

"I'm okay now, I just..." She buried her nose into his neck and took another deep inhale.

It helped settle her. He smelled good and familiar. Comfortable. "I overreacted a little."

He nodded, stroking her back comfortingly.

"Are you...going to share with me what's troubling you?" Phoenix inquired in a low murmur.
