Bab 168: I'm not showing favoritism, I'm spreading out my love

She turned her gaze away from the cuddly kitten in her arms to face Phoenix with a bright smile on her face. "And why's that, hm? What could ever make my confident husband so jealous of a baby?"

Phoenix strolled up to her and gave her a quick peck on her forehead, then reached down to pet the sweet thing with to long, slim fingers. Snowball nuzzled into the touch with a purr.

"Because he gets all of your cuddles, every day...so much adoration and affection straight from the empress..."

Her lips curved into a wry smile, raising a brow. "You seem to get more than your fair share as well, Phoenix."

"Hardly, darling wife....I deserve far more than I receive~" He practically sang the words.

She reached up and bopped her fingertip to the tip of his slim nose. "Greedy man."

"Ahhh, so cruel, denied in favor a kitten receives so easily..." Phoenix sighed in his usual dramatic fashion.
