She planted her hands on her hips and pursed her lips.

"Is something wrong, Isabelle?" Alex asked suddenly from behind her.

She yelped and jumped, spinning around so quickly she felt dizzy.

She placed her hands over her chest to try to calm her rapidly beating heart. "Ugh, you scared me..."

Alex should be crowned king of jump scares!

He offered a slight apologetic smile, seemingly amused at her reaction. "Apologies. I did not intend to startle you. I simply wanted to make sure you hadn't gotten lost."

She huffed and bumped her cheek against Alex's shoulder. "You always startle me..." She pouted.

Alex leaned forward to rest his chin on top of her hair, chuckling under his breath as he did so.
