Dark clouds gathered ominously above the charred mountain as fiery meteorite fragments relentlessly showered down. 

The onslaught briefly intensified, as if heralding the final stand of the dying Phoenix before it departed the lands it had roamed for millennia.

As the firestorm ended along with one last screech of death from the mythical monster, the gray smoke clouds beneath the somber skies slowly cleared, revealing the kneeling silhouette of the young hero.

Was he alive? Or was he burned to death by the primordial flames while kneeling?

Naturally, everyone was both eager and anxious to know. 

As the first adventurer to slay a mythical monster, Shye had carved out yet another legend, but had he died in the process, all his efforts would have been in vain. 

The people who should have been celebrating his triumph would instead be mourning his death, forever tying his legendary feat to his untimely demise.
