As a result, Shye wasn't able to deal any true damage to Reginald. 

However, this was fine for Shye, as he only needed to shrink the distance between them to open up two options for himself.

Sure enough, after relentlessly pressuring Reginald for ten seconds, Shye finally caught up, but before he could use one of his skills to prevent the cunning scout from escaping, a poisonous purple smoke screen suddenly emerged from the ground, cutting Shye's line of vision.

His passive skill, [Intermediate Poison Resistance], was sufficient to neutralize the poison's effects.

While it allowed Reginald to create some distance, it failed to achieve its main purpose of weakening Shye. 

Reginald, oblivious to the poison's failure, believed that as long as he continued fending off Shye's attacks, his opportunity would eventually present itself.
