"You're a powerful mage, I'll give you that but you were fighting a losing battle from the moment you decided to pick a fight with me."

Getting restrained by her own ability was something Ariel would have never imagined happening in her lifetime until today.

She tried to call it off but that didn't work and when she tried to use her wind ability to force herself out, nothing happened.

"How are you doing this?"

"There's a simple answer to that question, mana."

"Mana," Ariel muttered with a confused expression on her face.

"Mhm." She nodded. "The core of abilities lies in mana, you use your mana to activate the ability, and depending on your skill level as a mage you can maintain it to an extent with the mana in the atmosphere. Now why don't you guess how I've been able to counter your abilities and why you're unable to use them now."

Ariel's eyes widened in shock at that revelation as she felt a sudden shrill run down her spine.
