"Claudia Hart, it's time you know your place."
Claudia quickly shot her eyes open as soon as that voice resounded in her mind.
She didn't know how but she was back in her room and on her bed now.
She stared at the ceiling for a while with a confused expression on her face before raising both of her hands.
"My hands are still working normally? What is going on?" She muttered before trying to get up from the bed but her body was just too weak for her to pull herself up and she ended up crashing back on the bed.
That was the moment everything that happened just before she passed out came storming back to her memory.
Arsha was getting ready to use a very powerful attack on her, a quiet but powerful attack.
She had seen him use it before and she knew just how powerful it was, the thought of having her arms pierced by those water bullet attacks terrified her, but she was barely able to move her body.
She wanted to plead, but the words just wouldn't come out or in other words, her pride wouldn't let her.
"I think you should reconsider coming here after today." Arsha remarked before a water bullet shot out from his hand straight toward her.
She closed her eyes and gritted her teeth ready to take the hit but she didn't feel a thing.
The bullet flew past her and hit the tree behind her before releasing a shockwave on it that even shook her body.
The tree couldn't handle that impact as it was sliced clean from the point of impact and slowly fell backward.
Claudia was deeply terrified, she just stared at the floor with one thought continuously repeating in her mind.
'What if that hit me instead?'
With time, both her mind and body got exhausted and she ended up collapsing on the floor.
She was expecting to find herself on the floor because she believed that he wouldn't have any reason to carry him back but here she was, in her room.
"Was that really his goal? To terrify me and make me look pathetic in front of him." She muttered before turning her gaze to the right.
There was another made on that side of the room, an indication that she shared the room with someone.
"I wonder if Jessica has seen me like this?"
Her long black socks were off her body now leaving her with just her skirt, and for some reason, she couldn't help but wonder who took them off.
"I have to get up and clean myself up before Jessica comes back and sees me in this pathetic state." She muttered under her breath before attempting to get up from the bed once again.
She gritted her teeth as she managed to sit up on the bed this time but doing that seemed to have taken a lot out of her.
'My back hurts terribly and my arms and legs require a lot more effort to function than usual.' She thought before slowly bringing her legs down. 'It was stupid to pick a fight with him but still…"
Just thinking about that set her heart ablaze with a burning anger, one that made her feel like tearing something apart.
"I still don't know how I got back here but I'm sure that Devil had nothing to do with it." She said before attempting to get up on her feet.
That resulted in a failure as she came crashing down on her knee just before she could stand with both of her legs.
"Owww."
The door opened at the moment and a dark-haired girl walked in with a bag in her hand.
"Claudia." She gasped as soon as she spotted her roommate on the floor before quickly rushing over to her.
"Oh, hey, Jess," Claudia muttered with a weak voice as she helped her up the bed.
"You shouldn't be moving, you're still hurt."
This dark-haired girl with brown eyes and a height that made her a bit taller than Claudia was Jessica Roland, a level four second-year student who was ranked somewhere among the top twenty and was Claudia's roommate and best friend.
"I know, but I needed to go clean up," Claudia responded before placing her hand on her forehead.
"Don't worry about that, I'm going to help you do that." She assured her before moving to her bed to drop the bag she was holding there.
'So, I was worried about nothing, she had already seen me like this. Does that mean….?'
"Hey, Jess…."
"Taking you to the clinic would have been the better option." Jessica chimed in just before she could ask the question.
"Huh? What do you mean?" She inquired with a confused expression on her face.
"The person who contacted me to come find you told me that nothing serious happened to you, they said that there was no need to take you to the clinic and that would cause only more problems for you." She explained before turning her gaze to Claudia. "But when I got to you, I sort of doubted that, and the worst part is that I didn't get any explanation about what happened."
Listening to all that, Claudia felt quite confused, but before saying anything she had to confirm her thoughts first.
"This person that sent you this message, who was that?" She inquired.
"I could ask you the same question."
"Huh? But you said he sent you a message."
"Yeah, with an anonymous ID."
"Huh?" Claudia gasped. "But that's not even possible, the only people who can communicate with these wristcoms are the students and some of the teachers and the ID always shows whenever anyone gets a message no matter what."
"Yeah, I had the same thought as you but this person seemed to have figured it out somehow," Jessica responded. "But anyway, you'll have to explain how you got hurt like this later, I had to think hard to come up with an excuse for both of us to skip combat class."
Claudia seemed to have missed that part because her mind was somewhere else now.
'Was that Arsha or someone else?'
________ ________
With the sun slowly setting and the world slowly turning dark, Arsha could be seen standing in front of the entrance to a huge forest that was located in the south just outside the academy.
It was a huge forest with really tall trees but what really stood out in the area was a large blue crystal sitting on some kind of compartment to his right.
The crystal wasn't just there for decoration or anything like that, this forest was crawling with dangerous demon beasts and that crystal served as one of the energy sources for the barrier that sealed the monsters away.
"I'm still behind on the funds needed for the silver one." He muttered before walking closer to the crystal.
He stood there for a couple of minutes before letting out a deep sigh.
"I just wished this thing was a bit faster than this." He sighed before slipping his hands into both of his gauntlets. "This is why I hate combat classes sometimes."
It was sixty years ago that these special creatures known as Demon beasts began to show up in the world in a very strange manner.
The beasts appeared from circles that suddenly popped up on the ground and they were almost everywhere, they had a huge number and power advantage over the humans and they were super aggressive.
Until that day, the world getting invaded by creatures of other races was just a concept that the humans adapted into movies and series just for entertainment, they never believed that something like that could truly happen.
These beasts were very different from the ones they were familiar with, sure, some of them looked like the animals they already knew in their world but there were still a lot of differences.
There were no tiny insects among these demon beasts, Spiders and scorpions were as large as Elephants or even bigger, and seeing things like that was quite terrifying.
On top of that, there were also beasts that were completely unfamiliar to the humans, and that was what terrified them the most.
About three billion people over the world lost their lives in the first week of the invasion because no one knew where a beast was going to spawn next and the ideas behind how those circles worked were beyond anyone.
They tried guns and even nuked a certain isolated place where a large number of the beasts spawned but none of that really did anything to the beasts, it took them a while to accept the reality but their earthly weapons had no effect against these beasts from hell.
It took until the eighth day of the invasion for a good number of humans to start noticing strange changes in their bodies.
Until that day, it was only something that they saw in movies and series and never believed to be real but they seemed to have developed abilities.
Special abilities that gave them a little chance to fight back against the demon beasts, it was only a little chance because they didn't really understand the concept of mana or how to use their abilities.
However, they still managed to fight off the beasts with the little they knew until they started discovering it.
There were certain areas where the beasts were unable to spawn on and those areas became the perfect for building their base after the world they once knew was destroyed.
However, not being able to spawn in those areas didn't mean that the beasts couldn't attack those areas, and afraid of that possibility coming to fruition, the humans began to build huge walls around this area which was now their safe haven.
They knew that the beasts had what it took to smash those walls but they believed that it could at least hold them off for a while.
They built those walls for three months without the beasts showing up anywhere close to them, and then suddenly one day, something strange happened.
A dark horse with a flaming head showed up with a brown book, they thought it was going to attack them and bring down everything they had built up so far, but it just dropped off the book before quickly leaving the area.
This book was where they learned the basics of mana, magic, and how to efficiently use their ability.
It only explained the basics to them which was just exactly what they needed to grow.
It was suspicious how that beast dropped off a book to help them but only a few people gave that any real thought because they were all focused on surviving and the book gave them that chance, who cares if it was from a beast?
That book went on to become one of the greatest treasures of mankind and that area where the beasts were unable to spawn, went on to become Elevor City.
The sudden invasion of the beasts meant that the humans lost access to their special minerals and resources, the ones they used as power sources were the most important to them, but all hope was not completely lost.
With time, they discovered that these beasts had special crystals inside them, crystals that served as very efficient power sources.
Well, the government made it clear that the only thing they were good for was generating energy for the city, so hunting beasts for crystals was quite a fine endeavor that fetched a good amount of money for anyone who needed it, and that also applied to students.
The higher the tier of the beast the crystal was gotten from, the higher you could sell the crystal.
This was the reason why Arsha was in the forest now with the sun slowly going down.
He needed money for a special project and the only steady way he could get that money was by hunting beasts.
He didn't even go that far into the forest before he was surrounded by a pack of wolves.
Hunting beasts at night was dangerous for anyone other than the Nine grand knights and a couple of other knights in the force but he was one of those people outside the knights that it wasn't dangerous for.
Unlike most people, he could see clearly at night and his ears were very sensitive.
That was how he could tell that he was surrounded by eleven basic tier wolves, five intermediary tier wolves, and then the leader of the pack was a unique tier wolf and that much was obvious looking at how much bigger it was compared to the rest.
"Alright, let's do this," Arsha remarked before joining both of his gauntlets together with a smile on his face.
Two of the smaller wolves jumped toward him at the same time but just before they could do anything to him, he sent a punch straight into the face of one before he grabbed the other one with his left hand and slammed it into the floor.
Dealing with basic tier and intermediary tier beasts without his ability was a simple task for him, he just had to make sure to infuse his gauntlets with a bit of his mana to make sure they stayed dead.
It took almost two minutes before all eleven basic tier beasts were lying dead on the floor, and just before the intermediary tier ones could make a move, he quickly closed up on two of them and slammed them into the floor with both of his hands.
One of the wolves quickly rushed to him, the beast seemed to be targeting his head, but just before it could get there, Arsha got his hand in the way and he ended up grabbing onto his gauntlet with his teeth instead.
"Bad dog." He blurted before slamming the beast on the floor.
Now there were two intermediary wolves left, and they were quite angry.
They were growling quite loudly now as they began to circle him.
"Things would have been tougher for me if you guys just learned how to put your ability to good use."
It was as if the wolves heard what he said because they were pulling the air in the area toward their body to create a wind force.
"Too late." He snapped before he rushed to one of the wolves and ripped its head off its body.
The other one was about to do something when he quickly turned to it with his hand shaped like a pistol, and that was the end of it.
Just after finishing the last intermediary tier wolf, a wind blade was sent toward him, but just before it could get to him, he quickly moved to the side to avoid it without a scratch.
Compared to the two lowest tiers, the leader of the pack didn't have any reservations about using its wind attacks, and after watching Arsha destroy its little pack, it was furious.
The wolf growled aggressively as it slowly stepped into the moonlight to reveal its golden fur.
"Sorry, but I'll be needing that crystal inside of you," Arsha remarked as both of his gauntlets suddenly got covered in flames.
