Bab 18: Searching in Mt.Moon
It took Lukas one week to enter the outer area of Mt.Moon and another 3 days reach the border of what could be considered the inner area.
So far, all he saw were the common inhabitants of Mt.Moon like Geodudes, Nidoran and Sandshrew.
He also passed by many small to medium cave openings that are likely to house Zubat-line members and Parasect and such. A few times he even almost fell because of the occasional Diglett hole.
Upon entering the inner area, Lukas quickly felt the difference in atmosphere, noticing much more uncommon Pokemon after checking for a little while.
Most of these Pokemon like the Cubone-line or Rhyhorn-line were still traveling in groups and from what Lukas could spy from a distance their leaders tended to be at the Silver-rank.
Though they are labeled uncommon Pokemon to come across at Mt.Moon Lukas is only here for the really rare Pokemon stemming from the core area.
So he continued heading deeper.
Hours later, Lukas found himself in an inconspicuous corner atop one of the many hills of Mt.Moon to set up camp.
Today he found several interesting Pokemon, unfortunately he couldn't catch them for various reasons.
He found an intriguing Cleffa, too bad she belonged to a rather large group of her line with a Gold-Rank Clefable acting as the leader. He also came across a special Aron and Meditite, but for the same reason as the Cleffa he couldn't even think about getting closer.
"What!"
Scrolling through the public trainer forum of Mt.Moon while waiting for his food to warm up, Lukas quickly realized that he wasn't the only trainer trying to his luck.
That wasn't the reason for his surprise, however.
Apparently, one lucky trainer managed to find a lone Bagon while scouring the border between the inner and core area.
There is only one way to find a wild Bagon unprotected here, and that is if...
'So, even the Pseudos are taking part in the fight.'
Though Lukas calls them Pseudo-legendary's that term isn't used in this world since no matter how high their racial value's no "normal" Pokemon has ever even come close to matching up against a real Legendary.
Heck, there has never been a confirmed sighting of a Legendary Pokemon at or below the Grandmaster-rank.
Lukas became excited just thinking about getting himself a Pokemon at the level of the Bagon-line or above, so after dinner he and his Pokemon quickly went to bed, of course they would rotate while taking watch to make sure nothing happens.
…
Lukas spent an entire week searching for a suitable Pokemon all over the inner area of Mt.Moon without any results.
He never dared to enter the core area where the fighting is happening as well.
But even if it might take more of his time than he anticipated, he is determined to at least get one rare Pokemon out of this experience.
*BEEP* *BEEP* *BEEP*
Hearing the familiar alarm sound, he quickly pulled out his Nav to read the message he suspects comes from the Rangers.
Like he thought, it was a message aimed at all trainers in the vicinity of Mt.Moon telling them that the fighting suddenly abated.
What the exact reason for the conflict was or who came out on top wasn't mentioned, however.
'Damn' Lukas now felt some sense of urgency since his opportunity here seemed to be slipping by.
In order to achieve success, he doubled his previous searching efforts, even taking some risks.
Hours passed by again, yet he still didn't come across a suitable Pokemon.
Just as he was feeling slightly down however, his ears picked something up.
"ARBOK" "Ekans" x2 "Larvitaaar!"
Ignoring the cries of the three Ekans-line members, he focuses on the fourth voice.
"LAR!" "Arbok!"
He realized he wasn't mistaken after he heard the cry a second time, so without hesitation, he got the attention of his nearby Pokemon before dashing in the direction of the sound.
Behind some larger rocks and a bunch of bushes, he finally saw the source of the sound.
A Larvitar was getting cornered by an Arbok and two Ekans.
Learning that the Arbok is of the (low)Silver-rank while the two Eckans are both one major rank lower at the (low)Bronze-rank, Lukas assumes they must be playing with their food.
After all, the Larvitar is still only at the Iron-rank.
*Boom*
A low powered Sludge Bomb hit Larvitar and smashed him into the boulder behind it.
Seeing Larvitar showing signs of being poisoned, Lukas quickly gives out orders to his Pokemon.
"Abra use Spell Slot to Hypnotize Arbok after you teleport in front of it."
"Abra"
"Riolu and Charmnder you take out the two Ekans with whatever move you deem fit."
"Rio!" "Char!"
"Pidgey, take a look at our surroundings to make sure nothing can ambush us."
"Pidgey!"
"Alright, ready...3...2...1...GO!"
*swish*
After his signal, all four of his Pokemon sprung into action, with Abra swiftly putting the now startled Arbok to sleep.
Meanwhile, Charmander used Flamethrower followed by Riolu's Aura Sphere to severely hurt the two Ekans.
Pidgey on the other hand, began circling in the air above the group keeping a lookout.
Running by the now fleeing Ekans and sleeping Arbok Lukas quickly reaches the Larvitar and an Antidote he pulled out of his backpack beforehand.
Unfortunately, while it definitely helped, the Bronze-rank Antidote wasn't enough to remove the Silver-ranked Arboks poison completely.
"lar.."
"Don't worry, I promise I'll get you fixed up."
Lightly tapping a Poke Ball against Larvitars head, Lukas immediately puts the ball into stasis mode to buy Larvitar as much time as possible.
"Let's go, we should get away before Arbok wakes up or something else attacks."
Recalling the slower Charmander, Lukas and the remaining three Pokemon begin a quick walk out of there and Mt.Moon as a whole.
Pulling up the map on his Nav, he determines the fastest route from his current position to Moon City before making his way in that direction.
The next few days, Lukas spend traveling as much as possible, even temporarily stopping his Pokemons training.
One week later, he reached his destination upon seeing the large walls of Moon City.
After entering the city, he didn't even have the opportunity to appreciate the white marble stone used to construct many of the surrounding buildings, instead he quickly made his way to the nearest Poke center.
"Hello, how may I help you, trainer?"
Handing the nurse Larvitar's Poke Ball, Lukas says, "Here, it's a newly caught Pokemon, unfortunately it was poisoned by a wild Silver-rank Arbok before I could catch it."
Sensing the urgency in Lukas voice, the nurse replied with a calming tone in her voice, "Don't worry about your new partner, that's what we're here for after all."
Thereafter, she made her way to the back of the Poke center, the Chansey that stood by the side gave Lukas a small wave before following.
'Man, who would've thought I'd meet a member of the Joy clan in these circumstances for the first time.'
Pink hair tied into two rounder rings blue eyes a paler skin tone and a Chansey at the side.
That are the tell-tale sings of a Nurse Joy in the Kanto region.
Lukas is so interested in them because even with the library of ancient knowledge in his head, the secret about how or why every female born into the Joy clan looks eerily similar despite some of them sharing a grandparent and niece relationship has no answer so far.
Only a few special attributes belonging to their clan are recorded there. For example, every Pokemon bonded with a female Joy clan member gains a frighteningly high talent for improving healing-type moves.
Another peculiarity is that they find it very easy to bond with Pokemon of the Chansey-line.
While musing about the Joy clan, Lukas takes a seat in the center's lobby, deciding to wait for Larvitar to be fully healed before doing anything else.
One thing for sure, with his team now expanded somewhat, he can finally put his full focus on improving his Pokemon and gaining the qualification to participate at the Junior League Championship.
