Old Madam Matsumoto stiffened, her gaze locking onto the distant figure of the old man like a hawk spotting its prey.

Midori's breath caught in her throat.

Was she sensing the onset of a heart attack? If yes, for whom? For her or for Old Madam Matsumoto? Did they need to embark on a hurried trip to Hongo Hospital? High tension crackled in the air, almost thick enough to cut with a samurai's katana.

Poor Old Master Matsumoto had just uttered that one word when Old Madam Matsumoto turned around and walked away with long, resolute strides.

Yuriko gaped at her mother-in-law's retreating back for a long while before she snapped her head in Old Master Matsumoto's direction and snapped, "Father, chase after her!"

For once, the patriarch of the Matsumoto family looked nervous. He gently handed Ame over to Midori before he quickly ran after his estranged wife.
