In the evening, Mateo returned, carrying a large basket of clanging iron tools. Clara remembered her clay pots. She got up to put on her shoes, intending to go out, but Mateo stopped her, saying, "The fire hasn't gone out yet. You go prepare some meat chops, and we'll barbecue them."

With Mateo's suggestion, Clara did feel a bit hungry. She nodded, went to the kitchen, took out the marinated meat chops, soaked them briefly in water, and then carried them out in a basket.

The fire in the stove wasn't too strong, just right for grilling meat.

Mateo brought a table and chairs next to the stove, and a gentle breeze blew. It was very comfortable. While Mateo was busy grilling meat, Clara sat on the chair with a plate, waiting to eat.

"Mateo, let's make traps together tonight!" Clara thought it was necessary to enhance their security. They wouldn't want to be fast asleep in the middle of the night only to wake up and find things missing.
