.....

These three chinchillas didn't turn out as expected. In contrast to regular mice, which can have dozens of offspring in a litter, the female chinchillas injected with the [Magic I (Flu) Virus] into their embryos gave birth to only one offspring each.

The first offspring died immediately after birth without any changes.

The second one, however, had at least eight unusual bulges on its body, each containing what appeared to be crystals.

The third chinchilla, which Dudley was now holding, showed stable signs of life and no abnormalities in its body, except that it couldn't open its eyes. It appeared to be a normal chinchilla.

Dudley made a note of his observations, and he couldn't help but frown. He had expected this chinchilla to inherit the gene fragments from the black-spotted giant python's eyes during the embryonic stage and successfully initiate gene replication. But now, the chinchilla's eyes were sealed shut, and its pupils resembled those of a python.

As he watched the chinchilla in the glass container, it made a few movements. Its eyelids gradually opened, revealing eyes that sent a shiver down Dudley's spine. They weren't the typical black pupils of a mouse; instead, they looked like a python's eyes with a flat, light cyan crystal appearance.

"Did it work?" Dudley's hand trembled. This was his first time practically applying the principles of genetic genetics. In his previous life, there was a 99% probability of death or mutation, but this chinchilla appeared unscathed. Was it pure coincidence, or was something influencing the outcome?

His joy was short-lived as he realized that the chinchilla might have some problems. A mouse with snake-like eyes was unsettling.

Suddenly, Dudley observed the chinchilla's pupils enlarge and contract. The glass container that had been holding the chinchilla vanished, and before he could react, the chinchilla disappeared as well. When he regained his senses, he found the chinchilla curled up in his palm, rubbing against his skin and falling asleep with half-closed eyes.

Dudley couldn't help but think it was incredibly cute.

.....

Leaving Morrison's lab at 4 o'clock in the afternoon, Dudley continued to observe his new pet chinchilla. He couldn't help but wonder about the remarkable abilities it might have gained through the experiments he conducted, which were unimaginable to ordinary people.

The ability to make the glass cover disappear out of thin air resembled the strange events Harry had created at the zoo. This new creature also displayed high-speed movement, though Dudley couldn't directly observe whether it was moving rapidly or vanishing due to limitations of equipment and instruments. Within a confined area, whenever Dudley placed the Totoro on the ground, it vanished out of thin air, only to reappear above his head.

In terms of personality, as Dudley had envisioned, the chinchilla exhibited a docile nature and lacked strong aggressiveness. It seemed to inherit characteristics from a python, often favoring sleep.

Feeling the warmth of the creature nestled in his pocket, Dudley believed that the chinchilla likely saw him as its first parental figure since birth. This was convenient because now the chinchilla didn't require a cage and might even recognize its way back home.

As the taxi sped down Banyou Road, it eventually stopped in front of the two-story small western-style building. Dudley paid eight pounds for the journey and briefly pondered if the morning taxi driver had taken a longer route, costing him an extra two pounds. He dismissed the thought and focused on returning home.

In front of the two-story small western-style building was a sign in English that read "Dursley." Beneath it, there was an old-fashioned mailbox. Dudley recalled some of the details Vernon had mentioned in the morning. He opened the mailbox and retrieved several folded letters.

A quick glance revealed that one of the letters was from the London Biology Children's Journal. Dudley didn't pay much attention to it. Instead, he noticed a peculiar letter from the mailbox. Upon closer inspection, he realized it was addressed to Harry.

Dudley confirmed that he wasn't mistaken, turned it over, examined the details, and closely inspected the sender's information.

[From: Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry]

Dudley's eyes widened in amazement. This was a genuine letter from a magic school!
