Chapter 31
Leaving the call open, Xavier thought about how he could handle the situation. 'In the movie, Peter tried to talk with him and it almost worked. That was until the reporters came and the attention shifted from him to Peter again.' Actually, the news teams were already showing up and broadcasting him live.
"He likes attention in this iteration, not to become pure energy. He's already accomplished that with the accident, now he wants to find some meaning- He wants to be noticed and he'll either accept being famous, or infamous." Xavier quickly ran over to one of the news teams with a fresh idea.
"Hey! Listen to me. Don't take your camera off of him. He's unstable and if he finds that the attention has moved off of him he might blow up. Please."
"U-Uh okay Spidey…he's not gonna kill anyone will he?" The reporter was one of the younger generations of interns, so he was fresh and scared.
Turning back to him, Xavier looked him in the eyes. "Not if we can do this right."

Peter on the other side of the city, was doing his best to speed through it and reach Time Square. Xavier had told him of his suspicions of something like this happening back when Max Dillion's body went missing after the incident, and with Oscorp's recent activities he was wary of them.
"Think, think, think. Assuming this guy is like a power plant, he could blow up at any moment. What's the best way to dampen electricity, and that will be there? A lot of water." Of course that is NOT the best way, but it is the fastest and most effective available solution he could find quickly.
Luckily, Xavier had already thought of that and had someone call the fire department to bring multiple fire trucks, and he had left the call with Peter open on purpose so he would know he had done exactly that.
Either way, with how fast Peter was going he would arrive in just a few minutes, tops.

In the square Xavier was walking out to Max Dillion, otherwise known as Electro, wanting to talk him down. After just a few steps, Max snapped his head to Xavier like a cornered animal.
Xavier put his hands up to show he wasn't a threat, yet. "Youre Max right?"
"... You know me?" He asked incredulously. All his life, almost no one had known him and that only worsened after his accident when everyone thought he was dead.
"Of course I know you Max! You practically built the power grid from the ground up, designing it almost by yourself." He told him, reaching into what he could remember from the movie.
Max was honestly shocked that anyone could know him at all. "No one's ever gotten my name right before…"
Xavier almost chuckled at that. "How could someone get Max wrong?"
"Haha, I know right? My boss used to call me Mex Dillon." As Max laughed, sparks started to come off of him, burning his clothes further and scaring the cops around the perimeter.
Seeing them get worked up, Max retracted into himself again getting antsy. He backed up a few steps and started looking around worriedly.
Putting his hands back up in the air, Xavier tried to keep him talking. "Hey hey, they're just nervous men, no need to worry. Why don't you try to turn down the sparks, that way they won't get jumpy, yeah?"
"...They're not going to shoot me?"
"Not if you show them you aren't dangerous Max. You've gotta believe me." Xavier said reassuringly.
"O-Okay. I'll try." Closing his eyes, it was a few seconds before the spark show slowed to a crawl. It seemed he couldn't completely turn it off.
"Max." Xavier drew his attention again, getting an idea.
Looking back up at Spider-Man, Max focused his attention on him.
"Do you want to stay like this? You want attention- to have importance, but you don't have to be scary to have that." He paused for a moment. "If you want, I can try to turn you back to normal so you don't scare anyone anymore, in return you can work with me on some big projects. How's that sound to you?"
"You want to take it away?! Make me useless again?!" Max reacts violently at that.
"N-No no, Max only if you want to. I can help you." Xavier was cursing himself for his wording.
"I DON'T NEED YOUR HELP! I DON'T NEED ANYONE'S HELP!" Throwing his arms and lashing out with his electricity, now much more than just sparks burning his clothes.
This new surge he released contained enough electricity to power up at least three city blocks, and it was coming straight at Xavier.
Once again, it was as if time slowed down around him, allowing him to see everything in slow motion.
In front of him was an extremely angry Electro and a wave of very powerful energy coming straight at him, and he was having trouble finding a way out of the situation.
'What went wrong? I only told him I could help him, and it almost worked too.' He thought, keeping his eyes on the wave of energy, waiting for an opening. While he was watching he also started to pull out a conduction bomb. But by the time he would activate it, it would be too late.
'I tried not be be cocky like Peter did in the movie. That was where everything went wrong in the scene, with Peter being high on teen angst and acting all high and mighty- it pissed Max off and he popped his top like he's doing now.'
Right as he finished that thought, he saw an opening start to form. Not one to waste a chance, Xavier started the motions to jump through the hole.
'Peter should be on route with the fire trucks. Until then I can stall with the rest of the conduction bombs I have left.'
In the next second he completed the jump through the hole that had formed, and had brought out the first of the bombs he had ready.
"Let's play cat and spider, yeah?" He said, looking into tbe angry balls of electricity.
