Their airplane had been shot down by Ling. This was beyond unexpected. They had thought that Ling couldn't possibly possess such weapons, and even if he did, he wouldn't dare to use them as it would entail an open confrontation with them.

Yet Ling had been bold enough to do just that.

Completely disregarding their status. They couldn't fathom who could have given Ling such courage. They still didn't know which country's weapons had been used to shoot them down, but this wasn't the important thing. The nature and consequences of this event were what mattered.
