"So that is it. Do you think we are prepared?" Eve flipped the parchments again. Her eyes stealing a look at the door. He was not there. Of course, he was not there! They are acting like strangers.

The count should believe that things were not going well between them. She shook her head. But the way he left her room in the morning. She had told herself that it was because he had heard the whispers of the maid but there was something disturbing about it. She could not shake that feeling off her mind.
