Bab 141: Chapter 141: The Sincerity of Lann

Milo was impressed by Lann's promises. With his experience, he could see the sincerity in Lann's eyes. If the promises were fulfilled, even a third, Cintra would be the best place to apply his knowledge.

After thinking for a long time, Milo agreed.

Lann laughed from the bottom of his heart. After a moment of reflection, he added: "Cintra does not yet have the basis to develop other disciplines, but I would like to meet other competent teachers. Could you introduce me to some?"

Milo thought for a moment and said: "I have some friends, but they may not be willing to go to a place like Cintra, especially being a war front."

"Although Cintra is not in the middle of the conflict, it is not as attractive to them as Oxenfurt."

This was a real problem. Oxenfurt's position had been consolidated for centuries, and its geographical location was excellent. Convincing prominent academics to move would not be easy.

Lann thought for a moment and said: "I have something important to do later, so it's not convenient for me to visit them in person."

"But I also have some academic questions that I want to discuss with them. If possible, I hope you can convey them, which can also be regarded as a way of testing their attitude."

Milo hesitated and said: "No problem, but as for academic questions... Lord Lannister, you must be careful. They are true academics, if your questions are too... simple, they might take it badly."

Milo really doubted that Lann could present anything of value, considering his youth and that he came from Cintra, a military kingdom where even sorcerers were frowned upon.

Lann smiled and comforted him: "Don't worry, just help convey my ideas and questions. As for the consequences, it's up to fate."

Lann signaled to his assistant to bring paper and pen, and, under Milo's perplexed gaze, began to write.

The scientific development of the World of The Witcher is highly distorted, which is related to the influence of magic. Biotechnology had advanced inconceivably due to the participation of mages, to the point of being able to create artificial monsters and hybrids, creatures with combined traits of different beings that could reproduce stably.

However, Lann, remembering some analysis on the forums from his previous life and considering the historical context, knew that the general level of technology on the continent was at the Renaissance stage. There were no steam engines, war was fought mainly with cold weapons, gunpowder existed but was not widespread, and religion was omnipresent in the northern kingdoms, with a witch hunt about to break out.

Lann was not like the transmigrants he read about in the novels of his previous life, so he could not bring the industrial revolution to Cintra. He could not draw plans for a steam engine, nor did he understand how it worked.

But although he has poor practical skills, he still knows many basic formulas and theorems. After all, those things are learned in high school and are very 'simple'. And these 'simple' things are precisely the ones that can be used as the basis of a discipline, which can cause a storm in the academic world.

As for how to convert these formulas and theorems into real scientific results after writing them down, it is not Lann's problem. He believes that many scholars will flock to help him solve that problem.

Lann remembered the books he had read before in Cintra to exclude some discoveries that have been proven in this era. After thinking for a moment, he began to write on the paper. When he finished he briefly presented it to Milo: "This is a physical principle that occurred to me after the doubt I began to have after an apple accidentally hit me on the head while I was sleeping under an apple tree."

"I summarized three formulas, this is the first one. I would like to discuss it with the teachers..."

Although Milo was a doctor and not a physicist, he had a sufficient background to understand the logic behind Lann's formula. He didn't understand everything, but he saw that what Lann presented was coherent. So he agreed to pass the questions on to the teachers.

Intrigued by the rest of the content, Milo continued reading while Lann turned to Shani.

"Shani, you mentioned a bard named Dandelion. Can you contact him?"

Before Shani could respond, Milo looked up: "Do you also want to take Dandelion to Cintra?"

Lanen shook his head. "No, it's a personal matter. Dandelion is a friend of a friend, I want to visit him."

Milo nodded and said: "Dandelion is undeniably a genius. He once spent four years to complete seven liberal arts courses and worked as a professor for a period of time. Unfortunately, he was not interested in research and went out to travel... But he did come back recently."

Shani, hearing Lann's question, felt somewhat uncomfortable. "I just arrived in Oxenfurt, and I haven't had time to contact him."

Lann frowned. This complicated things.

Milo, however, laughed skeptically. "Is Dandelion hard to find? Although he is a genius, his lifestyle is... let's say peculiar. He only frequents a few places."

Lann blinked and looked at Shani. The young woman apparently thought of something and immediately blushed.

...

Because he was taken to the academy by Dijkstra after getting off the boat, Lann had never had the opportunity to visit this place that was semi-independent of politics like the island of Thanedd.

Now, with two assistants and six soldiers from Cintra, Lann went out to walk the streets. He left Levin at the Oxenfurt Academy to guard the remaining thirty soldiers. After all, they were in the city, and with the king of Redania present, it was not courteous for him to wander around with a large armed force.

They rode slowly on a muddy and crowded street, passing workshops, studios, stalls and shops of all sizes.

Thanks to the Oxenfurt Academy, thousands of rare and curious products were produced and sold in these places. They were mostly byproducts or discarded items of the Oxenfurt Academy's various innovative ideas, some incredibly useful and others completely useless.

The procession crossed another street full of inns, taverns, kiosks, booths, counters and portable grills, full of delicious dishes. Not only the food itself, but also the condiments, garnishes and spices were unique in the world.

This was really a colorful, cheerful, noisy and pleasant magical town.

Shani explained to them that it was a place full of entertainment, with continuous celebrations and endless festivities. Every street resounded day and night with music and song, and the clinking of glasses and mugs of beer. Drinking businesses prospered, as it was said that there was no job thirstier than acquiring knowledge, and alcohol also inspired artists.

The air of freedom made Lann remember his previous life. If this world was about academic life, he would really stay here. But that was not the case.

Black Wind looked around curiously, snorting at the various smells. He walked through the crowds strolling on the street. Hawkers, stall owners and charlatans shouted their goods and services loudly, adding to the chaos around them.

They continued moving forward and soon reached a place called The Rosebud.

The name and atmosphere of the building evoked memories in House as the group moved forward.

House looked at Lann, and with his approval, pushed open the ornate door.

Immediately, sounds of a lute and a melodious song spread from within. A handsome man, dressed in a purple-red leather jacket, was lying on four girls, singing melancholic poems. Several younger women were massaging his legs and arranging his clothes, looking at him with eyes full of adoration.

House sniffed. "With so many people at his service... this poet must be very rich."

A customer who was listening to the song was disturbed by House and made a serious hush gesture to him.

Perhaps because he was afraid that House would speak again out of doubt, he explained: "That's the bard Dandelion, he never needs to spend money to come here!"

House opened his eyes in surprise, looking respectfully at Dandelion, surrounded by charming women.

...

Dandelion was born into a noble family. When he was nineteen, he fell in love with a countess and came into contact with poetry. Although the countess is now unknown, Dandelion continued his passion for poetry and, after graduating from Oxenfurt, toured the continent, gaining worldwide fame within a few years. Many nobles respect him greatly.

For The Witcher players, his love life is legendary. Lann, while completing a mission, met four girlfriends and one boyfriend from Dandelion in just half an hour.

In a memorable scene from the game, a group of non-humans in an act of racism were wrongly accused of treason and murder. And Dandelion, due to his great attractiveness, was mistaken for an elf and accused of debauchery, being the only one with a truly justified crime.

Sometimes Lann thought that Dandelion's looks and wit were the most powerful weapons in the game of thrones, as he had seduced the Duchess of Toussaint. Which had enraged Duke Raymond to death, and Dandelion had almost become the new Duke of Toussaint.

This is the easiest and most effective way to usurp a throne!
