Bab 17: A Deal
"So what brings you here?"
Despite being confused Echidna had fixed her composure and was now sitting stirring tea as Beatrice was looking at her with bright eyes, after all who wouldn't be excited to see their mother after so many years.
Of course she wouldn't be smiling if she knew that she didn't mean much to Echidna, Chris on the other hand was looking directly at her not bothering to drink the 'tea' as he already knew what was in it even without the help of his new ability to see code.
'I remember her saying how she gave Subaru her bodily fluids, it's just her saliva.'
Taking one more lookat Echidna and their surroundings he could already see the 'Souls' of all the other witches slowly approaching them so he decided to make it quick, there was one reason why he even decided to come to Echidna and it wasn't because of the contract he had with Beatrice that was something entirely different.
"How much do you know about parallel worlds."
"Oh isn't that a tough question?~"
Parallel worlds, it was a concept that Echidna knew little off as she wasn't one to dabble with forces she couldn't understand despite her efforts. But looking at Chris who could be considered a living calamity and she knew the knowledge he seeked would be something she could use to her advantage.
Of course Chris knew what she was thinking, he could see her thoughts being displayed as a sentence like from a Visual Light novel it was simple to read ones mind with his new found abilities but if he wanted to extract the information he had to physically make contact with her. And he didn't want to waste what energy he had left since using overwrite multiple times despite being at his bodies max potential he couldn't use it at prolonged fights, even with resetting he could still feel the fatigue from using the overwrite button and he was annoyed by it.
So he would rather try to settle this matter peacefully than wasting what remaining energy he had left.
"But I wonder why you would want that information, I would easily know if it weren't for the fact that I can't even touch your mind."
"I tend to be careful with perverts taking a peep."
"Ah~ calling a young beautiful maiden like me pervert how unknightley of you!"
"Isn't it quite narcissistic to call yourself young and beautiful?"
"Hmph!"
Chris was getting tired of the conversation so he decided that taking a risk was simpler than having to deal with Echidna and her games, so he stood up and started to walk at her direction making Beatrice look at him in confusion.
"Ah ah ah, I wouldn't do that if I were you. One snap and I'll kill myself~"
Stopping he looked at the witch sitting at her chair with her hand glowing and surrounded by a dark aura ready to snap her fingers, he was annoyed he wanted to just leave this world and move on to the next one but he didn't know how as even reading the whole worlds code didn't help him.
"Beatrice your side of the contract has been complete, now you have no obligation towards Echidna so I suggest stop thinking of what you're about to do."
He didn't bother looking at Beatrice as she already had her hand was up and ready to attack him, but it didn't matter as she forgot that their contract was soul binding thus he owned her like a pet.
Beatrice looked towards her mother thinking she would say something to Chris for insulting her poor daughter, of course she did speak but it wasn't what Beatrice expected.
"Ah, your contract with her. I would be lying if I said I wasn't annoyed by it but now I could care less as I could always make another one~"
"M-Moth-"
"Oh she still calls me mother isn't that interesting!"
Beatrice was shaking as tears fell from her eyes she couldn't believe what she was hearing, her dear mother had basically said to her face that she was expendable and replaceable. Yet Chris could care less about her current state of mind as he now had his hand hovering over the overwrite button which made Echidna look at it curiously.
"Oooh, such a marvelous device! Not only is It radiating a powerful aura I could ready see how finely crafted that little tool of yours is. Whoever made it truly is a genius!"
"Stop playing games Echidna tell me what I want to know."
"Hmm~ why should I?"
"Because I have the power to bring you back to life."
Hearing his words Beatrice who was listening was in shock, bringing someone like a witch back from the dead was a terrible thing to do and should be impossible but knowing Chris he could definitely do it. Echidna wasn't shocked with his statement in fact she was smiling as if she was waiting for Chris to say it.
"I suppose your proposing a contract, if so fine then what are the clause's?"
"I'll make it simple I bring you back to life and you give me all your knowledge about parallel worlds and anything relating to it, if any of us were to not go with our terms they will get the power and abilities of whoever broke it. Deal?"
"Such a simple contract, I suppose we should shake hands to seal the deal my dear~"
Despite all his power Chris couldn't just travel to another world, he needs to be familiar with the code of each world to travel between them. He needed every form of knowledge he could get that could help him get out of this world, and even with overwrite he couldn't fully use it to it's true potential as his reserve's weren't as near as XChara or XGasters.
"Deal."
As he said those words knowledge started transferring itself to his brain and at the same time Echidna started to glitch before she eventually disappeared from her place, Chris had reincarnated her since she never specified how she would want to be brought back to life. He had basically outsmarted the witch but he was sure that her real memories would resurface in a few years as her soul was quite powerful despite not having a trait.
"Tsk, so I have to do that..."
The knowledge he gained from Echidna were theories to other useful information, one included the use of a very powerful soul to overclock one's ability to hopefully cross the boundary that separate's worlds. There was no name for it but It was an endless void of space and time that Chris could say was similar to the dimensional gap from DxD.
"There's only one soul strong enough to overclock overwrite, let's just hope it will be a quick fight."
And thus he turned around walking away from the table as shocked and tearful Beatrice looked at where her so called mother once sat, and with a push of the overwrite button they both appeared at the far outskirts of the gate of the Kingdom of Lugunica.
"Time to bring out the so called strongest person in this world."

With that the first part of the Re:Zero arc is about to end, next chapter would probably be the last then we'll head straight into fate.

As Chris stood there he could see the guards on the walls curiously looking at him, he could even recognize a few faces but that wasn't gonna stop what he was about to do. The overwrite button appeared Infront of him hovering he took one single glance at the city before pressing it.
[ACT: SUMMON METEOR]
The overwrite button may have limitations but it gives access to the whole code of the universe the user is in, which means if he had enough energy Chris could effectively destroy the world by summoning the biggest black hole in the universe and make it destroy the whole solar system only making him the remaining survivor as he could make himself immune to it's effects.
Of course the only person who would have enough power to do that would be X!Gaster, but this was the second best thing Chris could summon to drive out the strongest swordsman in the world. And expected the meteorite that was as big as 2 football fields was easily split into multiple pieces before it was reduced to dust.
The culprit was a red haired swordsman with a white coat and a blue glowing blade, he seemed to be floating in the air looking at Chris with a conflicted expression.
"He's probably confused why I'm doing this, use it Beatrice."
"I won't have enough Mana..."
"Yes you will, I'll make sure of it."
Despite clearly not being in the proper state of mind Beatrice started to chant, and as she did so Chris started to glow. This was a spell that used both the Yin and Yang element and it's main goal was to constantly heal Chris while making his attacks deal 'debuffs' on his enemies.
As much as how powerful 'Loading' and 'Saving' are Chris would be teleported to his previous location which would give Reinhard and advantage and idea of his abilities, so now he was just constantly using Load on Beatrice instead with a simple command that looped it's effects with Overwrite.
"At this state the only thing that could harm me is decapitation..."
Chris turned his eyes to the rapidly approaching red blur, he simply created a blade made of the Overwrite'w energy giving it a purple color instead of red with his DT before blocking a strike from Reinhard.
"So is this your true colors Chris?"
"I don't know what you mean Reinhard."
Knowing Reinhard's Divine protection using a blade type weapon would be useless, even now at close proximity Chris wasn't able to fully influence Reinhard with his Overwrite.
BZZZZT-
BANG!
The blade Chris made transformed into something Reinhard wasn't familiar with but nonetheless sensing danger he backed away to only narrowly dodge a projectile from the Revolver held by Chris.
'He can't predict something that doesn't have a blade or edge now does he?'
"Let's see how the 'Divine Protection of the Sword Saint' handle against foreign weapons!"
Reinhard didn't know what Chris meant but despite that he threw the iron sword he had borrowed from a soldier before gripping the sword on his hip.
'So you're a worthy opponent!'
Seeing how Reinhard was slowly unsheathing his 'Dragon Sword' Chris looked at him before the revolver morphed into a spear before throwing it at Reinhard, seeing this Reinhard could clearly see that the spear was heading towards his heart he prepared to catch it but the spear changed it's shaped before turning into something he wasn't familiar with.
Of course Chris knew what it was as it soon exploded at Reinhard's face causing shrapnel to fly everywhere, what Chris threw at Reinhard was an overpowered pipe bomb.
Suddenly blue light started to emit from the smoke and knowing what it was Chris decided to handle it before it could fully 'power up', despite the danger of what he was about to do he brought up the Overwrite button and pressed it.
And as he did so Reinhard appeared Infront of Chris with the Dragon sword Reid inches away from his neck, but in an instant once the sword made contact with Chris it shattered into pieces.
"Impossible!"
"Quite possible."
The overwrite button disappeared as Chris sent a punch at Reinhard's stomach causing the lower half of his body to be blasted away and destroyed, and the rest of Reinhard who was still left stunned finally realized the danger he was in before I an instant regrew not only his whole lower body but his clothes as well but not before Chris sent him flying with a kick to the chest.
"The ability to make any ability, that's some trump card you got there Sword Saint."
Reinhard who sent flying fixed his body upright before looking at Chris with a glare.
"And the ability to do anything with limitations isn't?"
"I'm guessing you made a Divine protection to know my abilities?"
Chris knew about Reinhard's ability, it was a simple ability on paper but terrifying in reality. The ability to create any Divine Protection both existing and non-existing this was what made Reinhard terrifying to fight and is one of the reason for some time people started to wonder if he could defeat Goku.
Chris didn't know the limitations Reinhard had or if he even had any when it came to this ability, despite his new ability to see the worlds code he couldn't influence it without using Overwrite and he had used all his remaining energy to overwrite the sword that was blessed by the sword god to be nothing but durable and sharp as toothpick.
So right now he was fighting someone that could see the trajectory of any projectile and weapon that tried to harm him while making any ability to adapt to his situation, while Chris had the ability to directly hit someone's soul and form any weapon he could possibly need while having the ability to see anythings code down to the microscopic level.
"Let's just get this over with."
Chris cracked his knuckles before pointing his finger at Reinhard who out of nowhere dodged to the side, and where he was stood was a series of slashes on the ground.
"As people from where I come from would say, Lobotomy Kaisen style!"
