Bab 2: Chapter [2] - Another World

People who were walking by Kazuki, who was standing in the middle of a village street, gave him strange glances.

"What is up with the appearances of these people!"

Once Kazuki had finished speaking, he was hit with a sharp pain in his head. He moaned in distress and put his hand on his forehead.

"Argh-"

Kazuki's vision became increasingly blurry, and his surroundings seemed to be whirling around him. He felt uneasy as he stumbled around, with people avoiding him as he clasped his both hands on his head.

The sensation was as if he was being shot and stabbed in the head without end, and the agony was unbearable.

Kazuki felt a sudden stop of throbbing pain, and then bumped into someone's chest.

He ran his hand through his hair and apologized, "I'm sorry, I didn't pay attention to where I was going."

((Author's note: *""* means someone is speaking in a language Kazuki doesn't understand and ' means he is talking in his head/thinking.))

*"It's okay, but are you feeling all right, sir?"*

Kazuki stared up in shock and stumbled back, "What the hell is this hideous bastard!"

A large, brawny individual wearing shiny metal armor and gripping a spear in their right fist. Their green complexion and scaly reptilian head, along with their piercing green eyes and pointed teeth, was complemented by a well-groomed mustache.

"WHY THE HELL DOES A LIZARD HAVE MUSTACHE?!"

The reptilian tilted its head, its face showing confusion and its voice low and gravelly. *"Judging by your outfit, you're not from around here? Are you from an otherworlder?"*

Kazuki retreated slowly, his face expressionless and petrified. He had no comprehension of what the lizard had uttered, and it sounded like utter nonsense to him, a truly horrifying babble.

*Step* *Step*

Kazuki's voice quivered with fear as he exclaimed, "I have to get away from here!"

Kazuki spun round and began to hurry away, and as he went he noticed that the entire village was populated with strange creatures, like the lizard.

"Wait a second, why am I running?!"

He paused, took a few deep breaths, and settled himself. He glanced at his body and noted that all the bullet wounds he had sustained were gone and his hoodie and pants were not damaged either.

Kazuki assumed a posture with his arms crossed and his right hand placed on his chin, this was considered his thinking stance.

He then recollected the time he had died, pondering to himself, 'Could my strong determination and desire to experience another life be what brought me here?'

'Can I go back when I want to?'

*POUND* *POUND*

He then attempted to concentrate his thoughts and efforts towards increasing the probability of him going to his old world, but this action only left him with an even worse pounding headache, so he gave up trying.

Kazuki was so overwhelmed that he felt as if his brain was going to shut down and his head was about to burst with all the pressure it was under.

'The amount of power I unintentionally utilized to get here, must have used up left me feeling depleted.'

When Kazuki unknowingly used his ability to unintentionally travel to an alternate world, the expenditure of energy from his power of probability manipulation completely drained him.

He is currently on the same footing as when he first obtained his ability.

Kazuki whirled back toward the lizard, thinking to himself, 'In any case, I can use the same mental training techniques I used in my previous life.'

He started heading towards the lizard, his worried and scared look now replaced by calmness and assurance.

'Right now, I need to keep my composure and do my best to learn as much as possible about this unfamiliar environment.'

He was facing the lizard and tried to talk to it, asking, "Do you understand me?" He spoke in a manner similar to one addressing a small child.

The lizard gave him a curious glance and said, *"You must be the one of the otherworlders that the Saintess Mirale summoned. Those summoned by her usually gain the ability to comprehend our language. How come you don't understand me?"*

Kazuki stared up at him with a clueless expression, "Eh?" he asked.

Kazuki had a sudden thought—what if he increased his chances of understanding the unfamiliar language?

Suddenly, a wave of comprehension of their language was transferred into his brain, although he had only a basic grasp of it due to the fact that his probability manipulation power had essentially been reset upon arriving here.

After a brief pause, Kazuki resumed speaking, ask, "Do you understand me now?"

The lizard enthusiastically nodded, its green tail suddenly appearing as it wagged in excitement. "Yes, I do!"

Kazuki stared at his tail, wide-eyed with disbelief. He tried to look away, but his eyes wouldn't budge from the strange sight. "What the actual heck?" he muttered.

"Huh?"

Kazuki rapidly glanced up at the lizard and waved his hands, "It's nothing, nothing!" he said, almost as if he had been caught doing something.

"Anyways what were you saying before?"

The lizard gave Kazuki a strange look and said, "I was wondering if you were an otherworlder, but it's pretty clear now."

"What's a otherworlder?" Kazuki asked with a confused tone.

"You really don't know?"

Kazuki shakes his head no.

"In simpler terms, Otherworlders are individuals from different worlds who are summoned by the saintess to help us."

'If only he knew I was not summoned here, let's avoid talking about that for now.' Kazuki thought.

"Anyways, there are more people who were summomed?"

The lizard man gestured towards a large, medieval-style church a short distance away, saying, "Yep, there's quite a few of them in there, and the saintness herself is inside that church."

Kazuki set off towards the church, giving a friendly farewell to the lizard, "Thanks for the information." He called out as he walked away.

Kuzuki walked away in the distance as the lizard brandished his spear and declared, "No problem!"

As Kazuki strolled along, he couldn't help but reflect on how kind and jubilant the lizard was, even though it was quite ugly. He definitely paid heed to the old adage, "Don't judge a book by its cover."

A short time later, Kazuki pushed open the two big wooden doors of the church and stepped inside.

Inside the church, had large, intricate stained glass windows, towering stone walls, and a long aisle leading up to a decorated altar.

The ceiling was adorned with beautiful frescoes depicting biblical scenes, and the walls were decorated with colorful tapestries and life-sized statues of saints. Votives and candles lined the walls, and the smell of incense filled the air.

As Kazuki strolled through the middle, meandering past all the quaint wooden chairs, he muttered to himself, "This looks to be medieval. What era am I in?"

*chatter* *chatter*

Upon arriving at the altar, Kazuki noticed three people who looked to be around his age, all dressed in modern clothes.

The group of people noticed Kazuki's entrance and stared at him with curiosity. One of the boys, with dark hair and blue eyes, spoke up in a puzzled voice, yet with an air of confidence, asking, "Who are you?"

The young man who conversed with him wore a white t-shirt, black trousers, and a tiny steel blade strapped to his waist. His eyes were a bright blue as he gazed at Kazuki.

The girl standing to the right beside him, wearing a pink cropped top and blue jeans, with her blond hair and big eyes, replied with curiosity in her voice, "By the looks of his outfit he must be one of us!" Her tone had a 'pick me' vibe.

The other girl who was standing to the left of the young man was silent, watching intently. She wore a black hoodie and pants, similar to Kazuki's outfit, and her long black hair and penetrating gaze gave her a distinctive look.

The boy placed his right hand on his waist in a pose of contemplation and implied, "That can't be right, the saintness only summoned us."

"My name is Kazuki Kismet, and I am like you all, an otherworlder who was summoned a bit later than the rest."

He stood with his hands in his pockets, appearing calm and composed.

Kazuki was obviously not telling the truth, but it would be strange if he said he had arrived here by his own volition unknowingly.

The young man gave a puzzled expression as he scratched his head. "Okay," he murmured, "I guess that's it then. My name is Rango Karagawa, and these two ladies are Chiawri Obanai and Mai."

The girl on the right - Chiawri Obani

The girl on the left - Mai

"Last names does not exist from the world Mai's from, so don't question it," he joked.

Kazuki thought to himself, 'These are some weird names. But then again, each of them are from alternative worlds, so perhaps these are ordinary names for them.' He pondered this as he rubbed his chin.

*Step* *Step*

"What is the meaning of all this commotion?"

Kazuki heard a mesmerizing, gentle voice coming from behind him.

Rango grinned widely as he saw the unfamiliar woman heading towards the altar, "Hey saintess!" He exclaimed with a joyous tone.
