Bab 72: Chapter 72: Chaos and destruction

"Im sorry Meliodas, we could do nothing against him..." Ash apologisedly said lookig down.

Baron tried to stab Ash with an air blade so I used my beast will ability to exchange places with Baron as he stabbed air instead of his original target being Ash. He slowly turned to face me with a puzzeled expression. 'What was that? Didn't he just use mana now? How did he pull it off?" He thought to himself.

But those question quickly faded in his mind as he finally found the person who would take his boredom away. "I didn't expect much from you Meliodas although all the rumors, but I see that you have some trick up your sleeve."

Ignoring him I walked towards Lucy to look at her, my heart clenches as I witness the agony inflicted upon her and the dangerous wound she received. A storm of emotions brews within me - anger, sorrow, and an unwavering determination to kill Baron, the one who did this to here.

Let's not even talk about Feyrith, even though we werent very close, he was starting to become one of us and started building friendship feelings with him. He was a good kid, with dreams, aspirations, objectives and loved ones as well as family.

I softly wipped Lucy unconscious cheek from blood that covered it muttering in a low tone. "Im sorry I didnt make it in time to save you both..." I lifted her in my arms as I walked towards Ash.

"Take her and go to the confidential training rooms, you will find Elizabeth there. She should be with Tessia and the director, tell her to heal Lucy." I placed Lucy on his back as he simply nodded his head.

'No matter how good Elizabeth's healing abilities are, Lucy's arm is done for. She wont be able to get it back.' I thought to myself.

"Okay but be careful. He has some sort of ability that allows him to block people's mana." Once Ash said that he started sprinting back inside the school.

"Think I would let you go like that?!" Baron shouted rushing towards the two swinging down his arm with the intention of killing both of them.

Grabbing his hand applying force not letting him budge no matter how hard he tried, a disapointed and angry expression my my face. "I trusted you Baron, we didn't get along well but you were still one of us... Why would you betray us?" Contrary to my expression, my voice was unexpectedly calm.

A disgusting creepy smile widening on his face, Baron replied. "It isn't betrayal if I was never with you in the first place, is it?" He kicked me in the head making me let go of his hand to protect myself with my arms applying mana on my arm, but just like Ash said, I could not access my mana at all.

I dont really need mana to protect myself from such a kick, but it is by now a habit to just use mana to garantee that I will be safe no matter what happens.

"If you are really as strong as you think, why did you ally with them." I asked placing my hands in my pockets.

"You mean these extras...?" He asked pointing and looking at the hooded people all around us butchering all these students. We just ignored them as if they were insignificant insects.

As I already said im not some kind of hero, I only save people I care about. Strangers dont hold any significance to me, no matter who they are.

"I just happened to have a sort of 'same goals' thing with them, I dont really care about that group of people. We just take advantage of each other. I only take orders from the king, and he wants you all dead, as well as that blue necklace." He, with a nonchalant smile explained.

"And how do you do that? Blocking my mana like this?" I asked while dusting my shoulder.

"So you are curious huh? Who wouldn't be? Its a godly power after all! It's called the commandemant of love! Any one who holds a grudge of hatred towards me will find his mana completely blocked!" His tone was becoming louder and louder with each word.

'Did he just say the commandemant of love? How is that possible? It's something from the seven deadly sins anime what is it doing here? Is it that god interfering with this world?' I thought to myself with a perplexed look.

Seeing my change of emotion, Baron though that I got scared as he got even more confident and excited. "SCARED? Now what can you do without your mana dragon sin? All you can do is to accept the truth and peacefully die at my hands!" He was waving his hands around and moving in a disturbing way, showvasing his enjoyment of this situation.

"Tch, Pathetic..." I looked down, anger consuming me slowly.

"WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY?!" He replied shouting.

"You think you can win just because I don't have mana? Pathetic! Delusional! Mana is nothing but a small fragement of my real power, of what is residing inside of me." Lifting my head to look at him with pitch black eyes and a black mark on my forehead making him take a step back from the pressure, I slowly walked toward him.

"Im a very bad match for you Baron, you will die right here! And after that I will kill the king." My voice was now a lot colder and clearly deeper as my expression became what could be described in one word. Psychopathic.

Quickly collecting himself to prepare for the battle, he stood in a stance. "PERFECT! This is how it should be! If you dont put on a fight it wont be fun!" He replied.

*Another POV*

The school halls echoed with urgency as Ash, his muscles straining, lifting Lucy onto his back. Lucy winced, her face contorted with pain as they dashed through the corridors. Her left arm was conspicuously absent, a grim testament to the recent attack that had left her battered and bleeding.

"Lucy, hold on there. You are though you can make it until them." Ash tried keeping her with him, since she just regained consciousness.

Panic etched across Ash's face, he navigated the long passages towards the private training room where Meliodas would invite them so they could train together. The place where Elizabeth and Tessia are honing their skills. The weight of Lucy, both physical and emotional, pressed heavily on him.

They burst into the training room, and Elizabeth, her eyes widening with concern, immediately assessed the severity of Lucy's injuries. Tessia halted her training, long green wood veins going back to the ground.

Tessia's eyes darted between Ash and the injured Lucy as she demanded, "Ash, what the hell happened? Why is Lucy in such bad shape?"

Ash, his breaths labored from the hurried explanation he was about to deliver, met Tessia's gaze with a mix of urgency and concern. "The school's under attack. It's not just a random assault. Baron, from the disciplinary committee, he betrayed us. He's working with a group of terrorists. They hit us hard, and Lucy got caught in the crossfire."

Elizabeth's hands continued their delicate dance, weaving healing magic into Lucy's wounded form. She glanced up at Ash, her eyes a mix of worry and disbelief. "Terrorists? Baron betrayed us? Why would he do such a thing?"

Ash nodded grimly, his jaw set. "I don't have all the details, but it seems Baron had his reasons. This isn't some random act of violence. It's a coordinated attack. They've targeted the heart of the school. Meliodas is now fighting him."

Elizabeth, though focused on Lucy's healing, spoke with determination. "We need to help Meliodas, we cant let him fight on his own he might get hurt."

Tessia clenched her fists, her frustration palpable. "First, let's secure the training room. We can't help anyone if we're vulnerable ourselves. Ash, tell us everything you know. Who's behind this attack? What's their objective?"

Ash took a deep breath, his gaze steady. "I overheard Baron talking about the necklace on Lucy's neck. He's not the only one who want that necklace, also the king... Wait... Could it be the king is the one who planned this?" He started questionning and realising things himself now that he calmed down.

As Ash unfolded the unsettling details, Elizabeth's healing powers began to take effect. Lucy's pain lessened, and the bleeding slowed. Elizabeth continued to work, her concentration unbroken as she listened intently.

Tessia's eyes narrowed, her mind racing. "The blue necklace? Why would they be interested by something like this? And what do they gain by attacking a school?"

Ash shrugged, frustrated by the lack of complete answers. "I don't know the specifics, but they seem to be after something here. Maybe it's more than just causing chaos."

Elizabeth finished the healing process, and Lucy's breathing steadied. She met Ash's eyes with a steely resolve. "I closed and healed her wound but I could do nothing for her arm. Now what we need is to go and help Meliodas."

Ash, however, raised a cautionary hand. "Hold on. Going out there right now is too dangerous. These terrorists are no ordinary threats. Meliodas is doing what he can, but even Lucy and I couldn't take them down. They're on a different level, and now we have a wounded we need to tale care of."

Ash didnt want to tell them about the dead of a lot of students, including their friend Feyrith to not make them not feel guilty for staying in this room not aware of what was going on. Training while student were dying. He know how dear these girls are to Meliodas and he dosent want to see him sad. The loss of Feyrith was already enough

Tessia's frustration simmered as she retorted, "We can't just sit here. We need to help Meliodas."

Ash's gaze met hers, a blend of empathy and stern resolve. "Listen, Tessia. We're not strong enough for this. We need to trust Meliodas. He's the only one who stands a chance against them. Going out there recklessly will only get us hurt or worse."

Elizabeth, while sharing Tessia's eagerness to help, nodded in reluctant agreement. "H-he's right. We have to be strategic about this. Trust in Meliodas' strength."

Ash, his mind racing for a solution, asked. "Did either of you see Arthur? He's as powerful as Meliodas, and probably the only one who can rival him. If anyone can turn the tide, it's him."

Tessia exchanged a worried glance with Elizabeth. "Arthur? He left for a class dungeon expedition about 14 hours ago. He hasn't returned."

Ash's brows furrowed in concern. "A dungeon? Now? This is the worst time for that. We need him here."

Elizabeth sighed, her worry mirroring Ash's. "He wanted to gain experience. We didn't think something like this would happen."

Ash clenched his fists, frustration evident. "We can't wait for him. We have to trust Meliodas and find a way to help without charging into a battle we can't win."

Tessia, reluctantly accepting the situation, added, "We'll keep an eye out for Arthur, but right now, our focus needs to be on supporting Meliodas in any way we can."

As the weight of the situation pressed upon them, the group grappled with the limitations of their strength and the uncertainty of Arthur's whereabouts. The unfolding crisis demanded a careful approach, leaving them to navigate the chaos with a blend.
