Kayla's POV

"So, Olivia used your stepmother to deceive you into going to the back of the mountain, and then she pushed you off the cliff? And your stepmother told you that your father, Alexander, was the one who killed your mother?"

Amber looked at me, her face now wearing an expression of jaw-dropping astonishment.

"That's about the gist of it," I replied, strangely calm despite Amber's shock.

"In fact, over the years, Alexander has done many unforgivable things, but I always forgave him in my heart because he was my father. Now that I know the truth about him killing my mother, I finally have enough reason to convince myself to hate him. Strangely, this hatred has made my heart feel lighter."

"Oh, my poor Kayla."

After hearing my words, Amber hugged me, my heart aching, and only let go after a while.

"What about Harrison? I heard Peter mention that he waged a war against The Obsidian Pack under the pretext of 'revenge.' Was that also to avenge your mother?"
