Bab 252: TSX Fusion

As KiShin released several video games for KS1, the gaming companies with agreements with KiShin were also actively developing games for KS1, with some nearing completion.

Despite having a few quality games for KS1, the video game library couldn't quite match up to the extensive libraries of SKES or KES.

The reduced price of SKES led to an increase in its popularity, attracting more buyers due to its wide variety of games, providing new players with numerous options.

Each game offered entertainment to users, and with the lowered prices, KES and SKES, especially, gained significant attention in Asia, particularly in the SEA region.

Thanks to the affordable pricing of KES and SKES, there's no longer a need for people to resort to purchasing pirated games or FamiCom and Super FamiCom clones from Chinese companies.

As a result, Chinese and Taiwanese companies imitating KES and SKES further reduced their console and game prices. However, their game libraries proved to be lacking in entertainment value.

Meanwhile, in the ongoing negotiations between KiShin and SamStar, the distribution of KS1 to South Korea has been officially concluded.

The introduction of KS1 to the South Korean market is imminent. In the interim period, before KS1 reaches the South Korean market, KiShin has forged an agreement with SamStar to place KiShin arcade machines in arcade hubs across South Korea.

The arcade's name, 'Soul Edge,' drew parallels to Japan and the USA's Virtual Fighter. While developing this arcade machine, Shin sensed that 'Soul Edge' would resonate well in South Korea. Given the violent nature of 'Mortal Kombat' and the ban on its film in South Korea (possibly due to being made by a Japanese company and its explicit content), and despite 'Street Fighter' being present in South Korean arcades, Shin held confidence that 'Soul Edge,' featuring South Korean characters, would be embraced by gamers in South Korea.

'Soul Edge' arcade machines were also introduced in Japan around February 1995, providing another fighting game option for the Japanese audience.

With slightly superior graphics and fighting mechanics compared to 'Street Fighter,' 'Soul Edge' offers a unique gaming experience. While lacking the same level of gore and violence as 'Mortal Kombat,' 'Soul Edge' holds advantages in certain aspects, particularly its fast-paced action.

On May 20, 1995, the Tora-Suzuki alliance announced a press conference set for a few days later, capturing the media's attention.

This news reached the ears of Tora and Suzuki fans, who faintly sensed that the alliance was finally unveiling their latest console to compete with the KiShin 32-bit.

As anticipated, a few days later, at the Tora-Suzuki press conference, Shiko, Seki, and Itori Tanaka were in attendance. They were joined by executives from both Tora and Suzuki who were actively involved in the alliance's video games sector.

Itori Tanaka, much to Shiko and Seki's dismay, assumed the lead role in addressing several media outlets.

"The period from 1993 to 1994 has been challenging for the video game sector of Tora and Suzuki. As evident, we faced financial struggles due to selling our consoles at a low price. It was so dire that we contemplated giving up on the video game industry altogether," Itori Tanaka stated, facing the flashing cameras and the microphone directed at him.

"But we, in collaboration with our esteemed partner Suzuki, refused to surrender. Instead, we joined forces, persisted through the challenges, and directed our focus towards video game development within this newfound alliance," Itori Tanaka explained, and reporters from various media outlets seemed uninterested in interrupting him.

"Finally, our efforts in the video game sector have borne fruit!" exclaimed Itori Tanaka, sharing his excitement alongside equally thrilled executives at the adjacent table. However, Shiko and Seki, seated at the same table, were less than thrilled about someone from Tora receiving the spotlight, feeling like mere extras. It was evident that Suzuki had contributed more to the Tora-Suzuki alliance than Tora.

Before Itori Tanaka could continue, Shiko interjected, "That's right, CEO Itori Tanaka has articulated it well," with a smile, redirecting the camera and media outlets from Tanaka to himself.

"We've developed a cutting-edge product that can rival our competitor, KiShin, in the video game industry," Shiko declared as the camera focused on him and the microphone pointed in his direction.

Meanwhile, Itori Tanaka and Tora executives wore slightly furrowed brows...

"A latest product? Is it the long-awaited video game console that Tora and Suzuki developed through the alliance?" inquired a TBS reporter.

Other reporters echoed the question, bringing their microphones closer to Shiko, who nodded in response.

"Indeed... It is the new video game console, 'TSX Fusion,'" Shiko announced. Following his words, the product 'TSX Fusion' appeared on the whiteboard through the projector.

As the live press conference unfolded, video game fans, whether KiShin, Tora, or Suzuki enthusiasts, witnessed the debut of the latest Tora-Suzuki console, 'TSX Fusion,' generating palpable excitement among them.

After the live press conference, video game enthusiasts, whether they were KiShin, Tora, or Suzuki fans, witnessed the unveiling of the latest Tora-Suzuki console. Their excitement was palpable.

With another competitor launching their newest console, it marked the beginning of a potential influx of video games for gamers in the future.

The video game market had been relatively stagnant, dominated by KiShin and their latest KS1. However, with a less extensive video game library compared to the previous KES or SKES, gamers who enjoyed video games regardless of brand began to find the market somewhat dull. Consequently, apart from KES and SKES, the video games market experienced a gradual slight decline.

Shin, despite holding a clear advantage in video game development within the industry, didn't want to witness this decline. That's why, despite his apparent advantage, he silently cheered for Tora and Suzuki to create innovative video game consoles and titles, hoping for the rapid progress of the video games industry.
