The silence from Randy Ziel on the other end of the line lasted for a while before he quietly hung up the phone.

After hanging up the phone with her father, Jaylene sat on the sofa in a daze. She had forgotten to turn on the fan, and the August heat was somewhat frightful. Quickly, the sweat wet the back of her clothes.

As sweat beaded on her forehead, she couldn't help muttering, "Why is it so hot," as she stood up to turn on the fan.

As soon as the fan started, the landline rang again, forcing her to pick up the receiver.

"Dad, is there anything else?" Jaylene asked, picking up the receiver.

There was silence on the other end of the line, and Jaylene grew impatient, shouting, "Dad, what's wrong? Why aren't you speaking?"
