"But you had already done that nine months ago," he pointed out bluntly, then changed the subject abruptly, "If you want your ID card back, give me your mobile phone. If not, forget it, I don't really care."

Jaylene understood that he wanted her phone not to call his Love Legend, and after a brief moment of thought, obediently took out her mobile phone and handed it to him.

Joseph Thompson took the phone and quickly typed a series of numbers on the keyboard and pressed the call button.

The call was answered quickly, and he spoke a few sentences into the phone, probably explaining that he was sick in the hospital and needed an IV drip, and asked the person on the other end to come pick him up in a car and bring Jaylene's ID card on the way.

Even though Jaylene couldn't hear the voice on the phone, she could still guess that Joseph was likely calling his assistant, Filbert Schmidt, as only an assistant would obey his orders without question.
