Bab 3: First Skill
"A Goblin Shaman shouldn't have any fire attacks, unless that's not a Goblin Shaman."
The fire ball that had been charged up fully by this point was released, and Lucien could see that the fire ball had split into five smaller attacks, and they were moving individually. Lucien recognised this attack and realised something, "Shit, it's a Goblin Wizard."
A Goblin Wizard was the higher form of the Goblin Shaman, and it was rare than them as well. The magic attack that it used was a homing type magic, Homing Flame. It was relatively powerful, but the ability for it to never miss made it very deadly.
Lucien could tell that three of the individual fire balls were going towards Yui, who was confused as to what was going on, and he assumed this was when she had died in his previous life.
With no other option in the little time he had, Lucien wrapped himself around Yui, and received all of the fire balls on his back. As he was doing this, Yui finally noticed what was happening, as she saw each fireball land on Lucien's back.
"Shit, shit, shit, are you okay? Please don't die!"
Lucien smiled at Yui, "It's fine, don't worry about it. Glad to see that you're safe."
He hadn't taken a massive amount of damage, although he was still injured, but nowhere near as much as he would've done had he not received half of the damage that anyone else would have taken.
The fact that he received this attack was actually quite a good thing, as his Magic Thief skill had activated, and the information on how to use the Homing Flame skill filled Lucien's mind.
He let go of Yui, and turned around to look at the enemy on the other side of the street to him. He decided to immediately test out his new skill, and due to his familiarity with mana, a ball of fire formed quickly in his right hand, and another formed in his left.
He released both of these at once, and they split in the air, moving quickly in the direction of the Goblin Wizard. It attempted to run from the attack, but ten balls of fire tracking it down was too much for the enemy.
The balls of fire burnt the monster alive, and Lucien wanted to go and defeat more monsters with his new skill, but he knew that it was more important to ensure the safety of Yui.
He picked her up and wrapped her legs around his stomach with his arms around her back, and he began to run as fast as he could in the direction of his house.
"Sorry about this, we can just leave the area quicker if I carry you."
"It's fine, I don't mind. It was really cool how you saved me earlier, you're gonna be a great Hunter in the future. If you need me to, I can try and help you with any pain in your back."
Lucien thought for a second, "I'll take you up on that offer, come back to mine and you can put some aloe vera on it."
"I'd be happy to."
Lucien thought he felt Yui's grip tighten around him, but he ignored it and continued running, eventually reaching his house.
They both walked through the door, and as soon as he put her down, Yui messaged her mom to let her know that she was safe and at Lucien's house.
When his mom realised that he was safe, Lucien was tightly embraced by her, "I'm so happy you're safe, I know you can protect yourself now, but I was still worried."
"Don't worry mom, I'm okay, my back's just a little bit burnt."
"What happened?"
Yui replied instead of Lucien, "He protected me from a Goblin Wizard before taking it out and bringing me back here!"
Lucien's mom smiled, "Well I'm glad you're both safe. I'll let your dad know about your heroic deed when he gets back."
Lucien laughed, "If you have to, we're gonna go upstairs, just call me if you need anything."
Yui spoke to Lucien's mom before following him upstairs, "Thank you for letting me in by the way. I really appreciate everything you've done for me."
When they reached Lucien's room, he decided it would be best to get changed as his clothes were destroyed. He took off his t-shirt and started to look through his wardrobe for some clothes to wear.
When Yui saw this, her cheeks became slightly red as her eyes were fixated on Lucien's body that had become more muscular after his awakening, as his strength was increased despite his Class being magic oriented.
It didn't take long for him to pick out a black t-shirt, but he didn't put it on, "Before I put this on, can you do my back. It does kind of sting if I'm being honest."
Yui was surprised, as although she had previously agreed, she was very nervous after seeing Lucien's body, "Yeah, I'll do it now."
She tried to act as if she was confident, but her heart was pounding faster than it should have been. Although they had been friends for years, she had never noticed Lucien in a romantic way until now. After being protected by him, and seeing how attractive he had become over the years, she couldn't help but feel a bit different about him than she previously had.
Lucien handed her the aloe vera gel that he had taken from his wardrobe, and lay down on his front on his bed. Yui climbed onto his bed and sat with her legs either side of him. She put some aloe vera on her hands, and proceeded to start covering his back in it, massaging it as she went.
She carried on like this, and after a while, she heard what sounded like snoring, as her massage had put Lucien to sleep. She moved off of him, and sat next to him, watching him lie peacefully. He turned over onto his back, and Yui couldn't help but lie next to him, and eventually she fell asleep too.
When Lucien woke up in the morning with Yui clinging onto him, and he smiled before closing his eyes once again. In his past life, Lucien had only survived until he was twenty five, and he didn't have any relationships throughout that time.
He didn't do much apart from Hunting monsters during the time after he registered, as if he was frozen in time with no real purpose.
He hoped to have a better life this time around, and had a feeling that this would start with Yui.
