"So, in this family, even if I get hurt, I deserve it, right?" Cindy Clarke choked out.
"No, no! I didn't say that!" Joshua Clarke immediately denied.
He dared not look into Cindy's eyes.
"Christy, what do you think?" Joshua looked at Christy Xenos.
"Don't look at me; I don't have any money!" Christy immediately said.
She hadn't even taken money from Cindy—how could she give money out?
"Forget it." Cindy suddenly said.
Joshua's heart eased up, only to hear Cindy say, "It's because my life is cheap. I almost couldn't survive and committed suicide after that terrible incident. It would have been so much better if I had died then; there wouldn't be so many problems now, and you wouldn't be so troubled."
"At least I wouldn't have to see it with my own eyes... my parents... not even willing to give me... this little bit..." Cindy sniveled.
"I even doubt if I am your daughter." Cindy cried, "Am I really that unworthy?"
