Bab 54: In the Abyss

I opened my eyes, blinking in surprise as streams of sunlight spilled into the room. It was pleasantly warm, and I turned around, shocked to find myself in a comfortable bed. The scent in the air felt strangely familiar, like I had been here before. I rubbed my eyes, attempting to clear the sleep from them.

Where was I?

I glanced around the bedroom, which looked oddly familiar, but I couldn't quite place it. Several photo frames adorned the study table, and as I reached out to examine one, the door suddenly swung open, revealing my father.

My breath caught as I took in his appearance, astounded to realize that his usual cold and icy demeanor had transformed into something warm and inviting. His deep blue eyes softened as they met mine, and a genuine smile graced his face.

"Good morning, Una. Did you sleep well?" he asked cheerfully, and I instinctively scooted back on the bed, wary of this unusual change in his behavior.
