Bab 77: Challenge
"He's ridiculously strong!"
Trafalgar Law's expression shifted dramatically, and he tightly clenched his fist. While he was aware of the formidable strength of the Whitebeard Pirates' division commanders, the sheer power they displayed left even the Supernovas from the first half of the Grand Line feeling like helpless pigs in a slaughterhouse.
Facing off against multiple Supernovas with bounties exceeding 100 million, one person emerged victorious with an overwhelming dominance, rendering them incapable of launching any counterattacks. Law couldn't help but marvel, "They seem to possess strength surpassing that person!"
Law turned his head, glancing in the direction of Donquixote Doflamingo. Yet, the sight of Doflamingo, laughing maniacally, triggered an unexpected and ingenious idea in Law's mind. Simultaneously, his resentment towards Doflamingo deepened by a notch.
"If I had such power or could wield it, I would definitely take down that person and avenge you, Cora-san," Law murmured. This notion firmly planted itself in his heart.
"Luffy, that Katakuri guy is incredible!"
On the Moby Dick, Luffy's expression grew serious.
As a fellow Supernova who had fought alongside Kid at Grove 1, Sabaody Auction House, Luffy understood Kid's strength. However, witnessing Kid being effortlessly overwhelmed by Katakuri made Luffy acutely aware of the chasm between them and the true powerhouses of the New World.
While initially considering reuniting with his crew after the festival, Luffy abandoned the idea upon seeing their struggles. He recognized that, with their current strength, the Straw Hat Pirates stood no chance against formidable foes like Katakuri in the New World.
"The warm-up is finally over; the real fight should begin now," declared Jack the Drought solemnly. He hadn't come to watch rookies; he wanted to witness the anticipated duel between Whitebeard and Bullet, eager to unveil Whitebeard's true strength.
Having grown impatient with a certain Supernova's antics earlier, Jack expressed his annoyance. "Guurararara~ Bullet, you invited me and then didn't show up; how rude!"
Whitebeard, silent until now, finally spoke. Ignoring the injured Supernova, he gazed into the distance and asked, "Are you ready?" A deep voice echoed, and with a thunderous noise, a figure hurtled from a distance, crashing into the ground and creating a massive crater.
Everyone turned their attention to the source of the sound. "Old Man Whitebeard!"
The challenger, Bullet, had finally revealed himself. "Guurararara~ You can't keep me waiting, Bullet boy!" Whitebeard laughed heartily, leaping up and brandishing his Naginata towards Bullet.
Boom!
There was a thunderous roar, and the ground beneath Whitebeard's feet was sent flying.
Whitebeard charged forward with immense force and incredible speed, causing the ground to crumble instantly into countless stone fragments. The excitement gleamed in Bullet's eyes as he witnessed Whitebeard closing in.
He braced himself, allowing Armament Haki to envelop his arms, and threw a punch with determination.
Boom!
The clash between Bullet's punch and Whitebeard's Naginata didn't make direct contact, leaving a gap of several centimeters. However, a shocking force exploded, accompanied by crackling purple lightning and invisible air surges that scattered dust all around.
"Heehahahaha~"
"The main event of this pirate festival has begun!" Donquixote Doflamingo couldn't contain his excitement and burst into crazed laughter. "I guess I'll have to wait for another opportunity to have a spar with Whitebeard in person."
Issho sighed beside him. He had hoped to use this chance to gauge Whitebeard's strength and determine if he truly possessed the power to reshape the world. However, the supernovas had interrupted the proceedings, and now Bullet emerged to challenge Whitebeard for the title of the world's strongest man, signaling an end to the initial clash.
"Whitebeard, the strongest man in the world, and Bullet, the former crew member of the Pirate King. This battle will surely shake the New World!" Hawkeye opened his eyes, wearing a serious expression for the first time.
Amid the attention of everyone, the two combatants moved once more after their initial clash. Douglas Bullet, as swift as lightning, collided with Whitebeard in mid-air. His fist, covered in Armament Haki, delivered a powerful blow, resulting in a resounding fist-to-fist collision.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Deafening sounds echoed as Whitebeard and Bullet engaged in a fierce close combat. The intense clash created invisible shockwaves, prompting spectators to shield themselves.
Another intense collision occurred between Whitebeard and Bullet.
As the two figures separated and touched down simultaneously, Whitebeard's right foot landed, and his towering form surged forward like lightning. In an instant, he appeared right in front of Bullet. His arm, shrouded in Armament Haki, rose to meet Bullet's Naginata.
"You truly are the strongest!" Bullet exclaimed with excitement, raising his arms and meeting Whitebeard's attack head-on.
Boom!
The cracking sound of Haki exploded, and a tremendous power spread in all directions. The fragile ground crumbled under the force, breaking apart completely.
But the confrontation between the two didn't cease; it continued to rage on.
Boom!
A thunderous roar echoed through the air as Whitebeard's fist struck with immense force. Cracks spiderwebbed in all directions as the intense collision erupted, slamming directly into Bullet.
"What!!!" Bullet shouted, attempting to disperse the formidable attack. However, the tremor's power surpassed imagination, propelling him backward. Bullet's body collided with the ground, leaving behind a sizable crater.
"Looks like Whitebeard won the first clash, huh?" Hawkeye's eyes gleamed with interest. "Just as the rumors say, Whitebeard has returned to his peak state. Otherwise, how could he have effortlessly knocked Bullet into the ground!"
Jack's eyes widened in shock. Following the Summit War of Marineford, a rumor circulated in the New World. It suggested that Whitebeard, in his seventies, had reclaimed his peak strength. Initially skeptical, Jack and Kaido now reconsidered witnessing Whitebeard effortlessly defeating Bullet.
"Too strong, he's really strong!" Bullet, who lay on the ground moments ago, sprang back to his feet, excitement evident on his face. "This strength is worthy of the world's strongest man, and it's worth my all-out challenge!"
With those words, he forcefully tore the clothes on his body. Emitting a loud shout, Bullet pounded the ground, hurtling towards Whitebeard at breathtaking speed.
But, before he reached Whitebeard, the seasoned warrior raised his arm and delivered a powerful punch directly in front of him.
BOOM!
The punch's force created shockwaves that reverberated through the area. The ground crumbled easily, sending countless stone fragments hurtling towards Bullet with vibrating power.
Comment:
As Bullet charged towards Whitebeard once more, he found himself struck by the powerful force once again. The impact sent him flying backward like a true bullet!
