Eve Thompson quickened her pace, following behind Anthony Charlie.

The two entered the room, where the doctors and nurses from the nursing home were gathered. The doctor had just finished treatment and was heading out, removing his mask.

Anthony's pupils contracted, he hurriedly asked, his voice as somber as a harbinger of doom: "What's wrong?"

The doctor looked grave as he began to speak: "The old lady's condition is deteriorating."

She has long had heart problems and has undergone various surgeries.

By now, she's reaching the end of her lifespan, with each day a struggle to survive a few more months.

Anthony's face grew pale, a chill rushing from his heart to spread all over his body.

Maintaining his composure, he asked, "How much time is left?"

"Three months to half a year, if nothing unexpected happens."

That was on the assumption that there would be no accidents...

Anthony dropped his gaze, his heart sinking to the lowest point.
