Lily had just settled into the car, when Aidan Lucas's call came through.

She glanced at the caller ID on her cell phone, her brow furrowing slightly before she pressed to decline the call.

No sooner had the screen gone dark for half a second than it lit up again with another insistent call from Aidan Lucas.

Lily was impatient to answer; she needed some personal space to calm down.

After declining the man's call again, the other end finally fell silent.

But half a minute later, a text message came through.

[Where are you? Answer the phone immediately, or face the consequences.]

The rigid tone of the text made the anger Lily had just suppressed flare up again.

With a cold face, she replied with a message—[No need to look for me, I want to be alone for three days. I'll contact you after three days.]

After sending it, she turned off her cell phone and threw it into her bag.
