Bab 1007: Trade Evolution

After watching Chatot boasted around the store for a while, Yuga turned and entered the Ecopark.

Just as Yuga left the store, Chatot rolled its eyes and flapped its wings, flying off Suzuki Koen's shoulder and following Yuga into the Ecopark.

Entering the Ecopark one after the other, Yuga went to the Dragon's Den Sub-Ecopark while Chatot headed to the Grassland Sub-Ecopark.

This time, Yuga came to the Dragon's Den Sub-Ecopark to find the Horsea clan.

The Horsea clan now lives in the Dragon's Den Sub-Ecopark's Dragon Lake, providing them with the best environment for growth in the entire Dragon's Den Sub-Ecopark.

After a period of breeding, not only did the number of Horsea increase significantly, but many Seadra and Kingdra were also born one after another.

For Seadra to evolve into Kingdra, it requires the help of Dragon Scales. Yuga's purpose today is to see what kind of impact it would have on Kingdra's evolution if Seadra were to evolve using Rayquaza's Dragon Scale.

Arriving at the lakeside of Dragon Lake, Yuga shouted towards the water. In no time, ripples appeared on the lake's surface, and the heads of Horsea, Seadra, and Kingdra emerged one after another.

The Dragon Lake is quite vast, currently inhabited only by the Horsea clan. In addition, Yuga also just relocating the low potential Pokémon into the New Ecopark make the Dragon Lake appears a bit empty.

Every time Yuga sees the situation at Dragon Lake, he involuntarily considers whether to try introducing some Skelp and Dragalge to enrich the lake's species.

Upon hearing Yuga's call, the Horsea, Seadra, and Kingdra slowly swam from the lake's center to the lakeside.

The leading Kingdra is the leader of the Horsea clan selected by Yuga, specifically responsible for managing the Horsea clan. It was also the first Seadra in the entire Horsea clan to evolve into Kingdra.

The Dragon Scale used for this Kingdra's evolution was left by Salamence, the Dragonite's father.

Originally at the Nest of Dragonite's mother and Dragonite in the Petalburg Woods, Yuga saw the intact remains of Dragonite's father. Besides leaving behind a red Dragon Inverse Scale, there were also scattered ordinary Dragon Scales.

The Dragon Inverse Scale was given by Dragonite's mother to Dragonite, while Yuga brought back the ordinary Dragon Scales, adhering to the principle of waste utilization.

Dragonite's father was very powerful. Although using its scales couldn't increase Kingdra's potential, it did enhance the Dragon lineage's blood concentration in Kingdra.

Later, Yuga gradually discovered that different quality Dragon Scales would have an impact on the Dragon lineage blood concentration of Kingdra after evolution. The higher the quality of the Dragon Scales, the higher the resulting Dragon lineage blood concentration of the evolved Kingdra.

Compared to other dragon species that are inherently dragon-type Pokémon, Seadra in their first and second stages, being water-type Pokémon, suffer in the purity of their dragon lineage blood concentration.

Therefore, the quality of Dragon Scales has a significant impact on them.

The number of Dragon Scales left by Dragonite's father is limited. Most of them decayed over time, and those that could be preserved were the best. Later, Yuga used all of them to help the Seadra evolve, and not a single one remains now.

Observing the gathered Horsea, Seadra, and Kingdra, Yuga activated his Insight ability and selected the two Seadra with the highest strength level and best suitability for evolving into Kingdra.

The Horsea, Seadra, and Kingdra living in Dragon Lake have almost similar potentials, all being green potential. There aren't any with very poor potential, nor are there any that stand out. So, Yuga didn't dwell much on their potential, and just choose them based on the levels of two Seadra.

As for why Yuga chose two Seadra, it was for comparison, as he also wanted to try using Rayquaza's Dragon Blood.

After storing the two Seadra in Poké Balls, Yuga left the Ecopark and went to the Verdanturf Town Pokémon Center.

For Seadra to evolve into Kingdra, apart from Dragon Scales, they also require an exchange through Trade Machine. The YoYo Day Care cannot conduct this exchange, so Yuga had to seek help from Joyka.

Upon arriving at the Pokémon Center, the lobby wasn't crowded, and Joyka was behind the counter, engrossed in writing something.

Yuga approached the counter and lightly tapped it with his finger, "Hey, I've brought Seadra for evolution."

Hearing Yuga's voice, Joyka didn't even raise her head. She just nudged the Blissey beside her with her elbow, "Blissey, you take care of it!"

"Um, well... Since you're busy... I'll go first..."

Seeing Joyka's indifferent attitude, Yuga awkwardly touched his nose and silently left following Blissey.

Due to the incident with Rayquaza, the number of trainers residing in the Verdanturf Town Pokémon Center increased significantly, bringing a substantial workload for Joyka.

Normally, an increase in the number of trainers at the Pokémon Center wasn't a big deal, considering it's their job after all. Although the workload increased a bit, Joyka wasn't supposed to get upset over this small matter.

The problem was that these people always found ways to pry information out of Joyka, inquiring incessantly about Yuga, the YoYo Day Care, and the Verdanturf Gym. This incessant pestering greatly make Joyka very annoyed.

But that wasn't the worst of it.

Some of these people weren't good person. After failing to find any information after residing at the Pokémon Center for a while, they grew irritable and started causing trouble, making the Pokémon Center chaotic.

The most severe incident was when they directly got into a fight in the Pokémon Center lobby and mistakenly injured Blissey, who was trying to intervene.

At that time, Joyka blew up, and took action to teach all the troublemakers a lesson. Since then, the people of Verdanturf Town learned how strong Joyka was.

Yuga was also surprised upon learning about this incident.

He nad Joyka was a good friend and, despite her primary role as a Pokémon doctor, she had two bodyguard Pokémon assigned to her, apart from her assistant Blissey.

However, this was the first time Joyka had taken direct action.

After this incident, Joyka directed her anger at Yuga, glaring fiercely at him every time he came to the Pokémon Center, then completely ignoring him.

Fortunately, Blissey always helped Yuga.

Because he had indirectly caused trouble for Joyka, Yuga later dispatched a team of patrol Pokémon to help Joyka maintain order at the Pokémon Center until the recent decline in the number of visitors.

Lately, Joyka's attitude toward Yuga has improved a lot, at least being willing to talk to him. Yuga sometimes pondered how strong-willed girls can be.

Under the guidance of Blissey, Yuga arrived at the Pokémon Center's room specifically used for trainers to exchange Pokémon.

Since it wasn't his first time bringing Seadra for evolution, Blissey, very familiar with the process, opened the door for Yuga.

"Blissey, Blissey!"

You go inside; I have something else to attend to.

After opening the door to the room, Blissey informed Yuga.

Yuga smiled and nodded, "Alright, thank you, Blissey."

He entered the room and closed the door behind him. After all, he was going to use the blood and scales of Rayquaza, and any unusual occurrences would be unmanageable.

Once the door was shut, Yuga took out the Poké Balls and released the two Seadra, then handed each of them a Rayquaza's scale.

Next, Yuga took out a bottle containing red liquid, uncorked it, and presented it to one of the Seadra's mouth, saying, "Drink this."

The Seadra obediently consumed the Rayquaza's blood from the bottle. After the blood entering its stomach, Yuga somewhat felt perturbed.

He feared that the scene in fantasy novels might play out, where the body couldn't handle too much energy, and leading it into an explosion.

However, Yuga's concerns were unnecessary. After consuming the Dragon Blood, the Seadra simply yawned, and nothing else happened.

Relieved to see this, Yuga patted his chest in reassurance, thinking: Thank goodness, no effect is fine, but exploding to death would be too extreme!

After recalling the two Seadra back into their Poké Balls, Yuga positioned them on either side of the trade machine and activated the switch.

The Trade Machine happened swiftly, completed in an instant. Yuga retrieved the two Poké Balls again, and the Pokémon inside had switched positions.

He started by opening the Poké Ball containing the Seadra that didn't drink the dragon's blood.

With a flash of light, the Seadra reappeared, and immediately, its body began to emit the light of evolution. Its form and size started to change.

As the light of evolution dispersed, a robust Kingdra appeared before Yuga.

Compared to a regular Kingdra, this one had more vivid blue scales, shining with specks of light, making it look beautiful and profound, indicating a superior potential.

Eagerly, Yuga activated his Insight ability.

...

Kingdra

Type: Water, Dragon

Ability: Sniper

Gender: Female

Potential: Blue

Level: 44

Moves: Bubble, Smokescreen, Water Gun, Brine, Quick Attack, Focus Energy, Dragon Pulse, Ice Beam, Rain Dance, Dragon Breath, Water Pulse, Hydro Pump, Yawn.

...

Yuga's face showed a pleasant surprise after reading through. The potential had indeed changed! Now, the Horsea clan finally had a blue potential Pokémon!

Besides the potential change, Yuga noticed a significant increase in the Kingdra's dragon blood concentration, evidenced by the sturdy and beautiful scales and more ferocious-looking dragon horns than the ordinary Kingdra.

Seeing the change in potential of this Kingdra, Yuga eagerly opened the second Poké Ball. The second Seadra appeared on the ground, and the light of evolution emerged.

In no time, the second Kingdra completed its evolution.

However, upon seeing this Kingdra, Yuga felt a bit embarrassed because this Kingdra's color was purple.

How should I put it? It's a bit overbearing. To be honest, Yuga found it quite ugly, not as appealing as the ordinary Kingdra that has a beautiful blue color.

Kingdra (Shiny)

Type: Dragon, Water

Ability: Swift Swim

Gender: Male

potential: Indigo

Level: 48

Moves: Bubble, Smokescreen, Water Gun, Brine, Quick Attack, Focus Energy, Dragon Pulse, Ice Beam, Rain Dance, Dragon Breath, Water Pulse, Hydro Pump, Yawn, Signal Beam, Outrage, Draco Meteor.

This is probably like when one door closes, another one opens. The Kingdra became ugly, but also stronger.

Firstly, the biggest change is that the potential has gone from green to indigo! This Kingdra will now reach the peak of Pokémon in the future, and marrying a beautiful partner won't be a problem!

Secondly, there's a change in types.

Ordinarily, while evolving, a Horsea uses Dragon scales to evolve into a Dragon-type Pokémon, but its primary type remains Water while Dragon becomes the secondary type. Yet, in this case, the primary type has become Dragon, with Water being pushed to the secondary position.

Finally, there's a change in moves.

Both Draco Meteor and Outrage are indeed moves that Kingdra can learn, but the critical thing is that they aren't learned before evolution!

Though it's likely that new moves are grasped while Pokémon evolve, the learning difficulty of Draco Meteor and Outrage is related to the Pokémon's Dragon lineage.

The stronger the Dragon lineage, the easier it is to learn these two moves.

For example, while it's possible for a Rhyperior to learn Draco Meteor, in reality, most Rhyperior can't learn it smoothly. Even with Dragon-type Pokémon teaching them, the likelihood of learning it is very low.

Comparatively, Dragonite, Salamence, Goodra, Garchomp, and Kommo-o... these pure-blood Dragon types can learn these moves much more easily.

Unexpectedly, the Kingdra learn both Draco Meteor and Outrage right after evolving.

Is this the effect of Rayquaza's Dragon Blood?

However, this is not absolute; it could also be due to differences in the quality of Dragon scales.

There are also differences in the quality of Dragon scales on the body of a Dragon-type Pokémon. The rarest and highest-quality among them is the sole Dragon Inverse Scale.

However, Dragon Inverse Scales are rare and unique; each Dragon-type Pokémon only has one in its lifetime, and it will not fall off until death. Until now, Yuga has only seen one Dragon Inverse Scale that fell off, and that was from Dragonite's father.

The scales on the bodies of other Dragon-type Pokémon also have differences in quality based on their location, and the quality of Dragon scales of different Dragon-type Pokémon varies greatly.

Rayquaza scales in Yuga's hand can't distinguish the quality difference, so Yuga doesn't know if the changes in the second Kingdra are due to the addition of Dragon scales or Dragon blood, or purely influenced by Dragon scales or Dragon blood.

However, all these things can be thought over later.

Having obtained two excellent potential Kingdras, Yuga walked out of the room happily.

Seeing Yuga coming out, Joyka raised her head and asked, "Why did it take so long today?"

Yuga saw Joyka finally speaking in a normal tone and happily walked over, saying, "It's nothing, just needed to verify something, so it took a bit of time."

Upon hearing this, Joyka didn't ask much but continued to say, "I want to discuss something with you."

Yuga nodded and said, "Okay, tell me."

While Joyka was busy with the work in her hand, she said, "I have a friend who wants to open a Pokémon café in Verdanturf Town and wants to adopt some stray Pokémon from your Pokémon Paradise."

As Verdanturf Town became more prosperous, the specialty tourism industry flourished, and various entertainment and leisure facilities began to emerge.

Joyka's so-called Pokémon Café was an idea her friend developed after visiting Verdanturf Town. It was envisioned as a leisurely café where guests could enjoy coffee, food, and interact with cute Pokémon.

This concept was somewhat similar to the style of Yuga's Pokémon Paradise restaurant. However, while the restaurant was mainly for dining, the café would be more focused on relaxation and enjoyment.

Joyka had taken on the voluntary responsibility for the health concerns of the stray Pokémon in Yuga's Pokémon Paradise. Although they were still referred to as stray Pokémon, there had been enormous changes in both their mental and physical condition compared to before. They were almost indistinguishable from pet Pokémon in ordinary households and could easily work at the Pokémon Café.

Yuga's Paradise restaurant had always been doing quite well and had gained a fair bit of fame in Verdanturf Town, bringing in good revenue alongside the resort, offering Yuga substantial additional income.

Hearing Joyka's words, Yuga exclaimed excitedly, "Really? That's fantastic! Recently, there have been more and more stray Pokémon in the park, and I was worried!"

This wasn't a lie by Yuga. It was likely that the fame of the Pokémon Paradise had attracted all the stray Pokémon from Verdanturf Town, causing a lot of pressure for Yuga.

Inspired by Yuga's Pokémon Paradise, many larger cities had also established similar facilities to accommodate stray Pokémon.

However, unlike the Pokémon Paradise, these facilities in the cities weren't free. They used the sheltered Pokémon to generate income. The Pokémon Café was one such establishment.

Compared to Verdanturf Town, these Pokémon Cafés were more popular in larger cities. Nowadays, such places, including Pokémon Cafés, Pokémon Tea Houses, Pokémon Restaurants, and Pokémon Hotels, were trending.

The rise of these facilities not only provided a livelihood for many stray Pokémon but also enhanced the beauty of the cities. After all, having a large number of dirty stray Pokémon wandering in the city every day wasn't a pleasant sight.

It could be said that Yuga's Pokémon Paradise had unwittingly initiated a revolution and trend in the service industry.

"Is your friend in Verdanturf Town? How many stray Pokémon is she planning to adopt?" Yuga asked eagerly.

"I'm not sure about that. I'll let you know when she arrives in Verdanturf Town. I'll let her talk to you at that time," Joyka replied.

"I see... Sure, I'll wait for your message," Yuga said, turning to leave.

As Yuga was about to leave, Joyka added, "My friend's café will be quite large. So, she's likely to adopt many Pokémon. That should surely reduce your pressure."

Joyka understood that Yuga had taken in many stray Pokémon, which indeed was quite burdensome. Beyond just food concerns, taking care of them was a troublesome affair.

Yuga's face instantly lit up with a smile. "Got it, thanks, Joyka!"

Joyka rolled her eyes at him. "Prepare yourself; choose the cuter Pokémon. My friend is opening a café, not a haunted house!"

"I got it!" Yuga replied, then quickly left the Pokémon Center.

In fact, most initial forms of Pokémon were pretty adorable. Stray Pokémon had low potential and usually didn't exercise, so after entering the café, they would be even less likely to do so. This meant that most of them would spend their whole lives stuck in their initial stages.

ven less likely to do so. This meant that most of them would spend their whole lives stuck in their initial stages.
