As Yuga gazed at the slowly pulsating cocoon, he felt as though his own heartbeat might come to a halt.
While he mourned the loss of the Genesect fossil, he couldn't help but worry more about Vivillon, the Pokémon he had been living with day in and day out, than an elusive Legendary Pokémon.
Yuga had been in the room for about four hours. Shin and Kazuma had been instructed not to disturb him, so even when Momiji came to call him for dinner, she was turned away for no apparent reason, leaving her quite frustrated.
Inside the room at this moment, Yuga was watching the yellow-green cocoon enveloping Vivillon as a crack slowly formed in its middle.
Through the crack, a pair of wings shimmering with white light slowly unfurled, resembling flowers blossoming in spring, exuding an exquisite beauty.
Once the wings were fully spread, the yellow-green cocoon shattered completely, and Vivillon emerged upright from the luminous cocoon.
With a gentle flap of its wings, the white light on them dispersed into the air, and the yellow-green cocoon vanished.
"Vivillon..."
Vivillon flapped its wings twice, effortlessly ascending into the air.
After its metamorphosis, Vivillon had undergone significant changes in appearance.
Firstly, there was a change in size. Yuga's Vivillon had originally been much larger in size compared to ordinary Vivillon, nearly as large as a Noctowl when its wings were spread. However, after the metamorphosis, its size had shrunk considerably, becoming almost indistinguishable from a typical Vivillon. But its wing movements now appeared much more agile.
Secondly, there was a change in patterns. All Vivillon had a common feature on their wing edges: they were black. Yuga's Vivillon was no exception.
However, after the metamorphosis, the black edges of its wings had transformed into a pale purple color, nearly identical to the color of the Genesect fossil.
The color on Vivillon's wings, which had ice and snow patterns, was quite monotonous. Aside from the black edges, the rest of the wings were white, with only a few scattered light gray spots.
With these pale purple patterns, Yuga's Vivillon became even more Bellossomful.
However, beyond the changes in appearance, Yuga was more concerned about Vivillon's physical condition.
...

...
The first thing Yuga noticed was the striking purple potential.
This marked his second purple potential Pokémon after Lapras.
Yuga had wondered about his second purple potential Pokémon before. He had made predictions about Florges, about Chimecho taken by Deoxys...
But he never thought it would be Vivillon.
Compared to the purple potential, the level, which had reached peak of pseudo-Elite level, seemed insignificant.
With Vivillon's original Indigo potential, not to mention reaching peak of pseudo-Elite level, even breaking through to Elite level, it was only a matter of time.
Was the transformation of Butterfly King really this powerful? Or was it influenced by the Genesect fossil? Yuga wondered.
Besides the potential change, Yuga also sensed a strong vitality in Vivillon, completely different from what an ordinary Bug-type Pokémon should possess.
Instead, it felt like a life transition that occurred when a Pokémon broke through from pseudo-Elite level to Elite level...
Yuga remembered Mr. Tsuruta's words about Butterfly King's life form being completely different from its kin; perhaps this is what he had meant.
"Vivillon..."
Vivillon now felt that its entire body was filled with strength.
"Vivillon, how do you feel now?" Yuga asked the Vivillon perched on top of his head.
When Vivillon used to be outside, it liked to perch on Yuga's head. However, Yuga used to think it was too heavy back then. Now, it felt much lighter.
"Vivillon..."
Feeling great!
Hearing Vivillon's response, Yuga's previous worries faded away.
"Vivillon, let's go and test your current strength!"
Yuga was now curious about how powerful Vivillon had become after its metamorphosis.
"Vivillon... Vivillon..."
Sure, let's go! Let's go test it out!
Filled with power, Vivillon felt like it could take on ten opponents at once!
When Yuga opened the door, he found Shin and Kazuma still waiting outside.
"You two have been waiting here the whole time?" It's been about four hours!
Yuga asked in surprise.
Shin and Kazuma both nodded.
"Ms. Momiji came looking for you, but we told her you were busy, and she left."
Shin said, conveniently leaving out the part about Momiji inviting Yuga to dinner.
Yuga didn't need to guess why Momiji had come looking for him.
"Alright, I understand. You two can go back and rest. You've worked hard."
The two brothers nodded and returned to their rooms.
After leaving the room, Yuga, with Vivillon in tow, headed straight to the training grounds.
It was now past nine in the evening, and most of the people on the training grounds had already left. Only a few exceptionally diligent individuals remained, training with their Pokémon.
When they saw Yuga arrive at the training grounds, those people only gave him a brief glance before continuing with their own training.
Standing on the edge of a battle arena, Yuga released his Bellossom and Roserade.
"Vivillon, how about facing both Bellossom and Roserade at once?"
Vivillon's level was now on par with Roserade and Bellossom, and its individual battle strength was definitely higher than theirs.
However, Yuga wasn't sure if it could handle both of them simultaneously.
As for Elite level battle strength, Yuga didn't even dare to think about it. The gap between pseudo-Elite level and Elite level was immense, not easily bridged, even with Vivillon's purple potential.
Hearing Yuga's words, Vivillon placed its hands on its hips and confidently raised its head: "I can take on ten, two are no problem."
"Bellossom... Bellossom..."
"Roserade! Roserade!"
Seeing Vivillon's "invincible" attitude, both Bellossom and Roserade were very angry.
"Vivillon!"
Seeing that Bellossom and Roserade were not convinced, Vivillon quickly flew to the other side of the battle arena, provoking the two of them.
"Bellossom! Bellossom!"
"Roserade! Roserade!"
Provoked by Vivillon, Bellossom and Roserade angrily called out, indicating they wanted to teach the overconfident Vivillon a lesson.
"I won't interfere in your three-way battle. You can go all out. How about that?"
Bellossom: Couldn't ask for more!
Roserade: Suits me just fine!
Vivillon: That's the way to go!
All three of them nodded simultaneously.
We're just two chapters away from the end, but I won't make it tonight. I'll catch up tomorrow morning.
