Varion shrugged, "As usual, not a doctor. When will the materials you promised me arrive? I want to carry out experiments, but I can't do it without materials!"
Isaac, with a smile on his face, responded, "Definitely, this time I'm here to tell you that the materials you need have arrived."
Varion eagerly asked, "Well, that's really great. Can we go and have a look? If so, I'd like to start a study right away."
Isaac agreed, "Why not?"
They followed an inconspicuous passage, reminiscent of an elevator, and after a few minutes, a door opened. Varion couldn't help but wonder if this was the elevator to the Hive, his old base. If he didn't retrieve something substantial this time, it might end up being someone else's research material.
Nearly a thousand meters underground, a vast facility came into view.
Isaac questioned, "You don't seem surprised at all?"
Varion shook his head, saying, "This is what a research base should look like. I like it very much."
Isaac couldn't help but think that Varion was quite unusual.
They proceeded directly to the laboratory, where someone was waiting. Two prisoners were bound to experimental benches, their heads covered with hoods, occasionally roaring in fear.
Dr. Isaac said, "Dr. Varion, please."
After disinfecting and changing into appropriate attire, Varion retrieved a small bottle of green liquid.
Isaac inquired with curiosity, "Dr. Varion, what is this?"
Varion assured him, "Don't worry, Dr. Isaac. You'll find out soon enough. Trust me; you'll be surprised." He then turned to an experimental assistant and asked, "Have the subjects' measurements and data been recorded?"
The assistant replied, "Yes, Doctor. All the information has been collected."
Varion removed the hoods from the prisoners, revealing their terrified expressions. They began to curse upon seeing Varion with a syringe in hand.
Varion shook his head, saying, "You're cursing me now, but you won't know how to thank me later. Shhh... you'll thank me." In Isaac's eyes, Varion's behavior seemed erratic, but he felt more comfortable dealing with someone who appeared unhinged.
Varion injected the green potion into the prisoners, and everyone else in the lab exited, leaving the two subjects struggling frantically.
Isaac asked in a deep voice, "Dr. Varion, what are you...?"
"You'll find out soon, Doctor."
Suddenly, there was a loud 'smack' from inside the lab, as if something had shattered.
Experiment No. 2 lay motionless, unable to withstand the immense pressure in their body, and had died.
The assistant reported with a blank expression, "Experiment No. 2 has died. Subject No. 1's heart rate continues to rise, but it appears to be gradually stabilizing. Doctor, should we take any measures?"
"No, no, just observe for now. By the way, Doctor, do we have a department equipped to handle these experimental subjects? I believe his body could hold the answers I seek."
Isaac turned to him, a quizzical expression on his face. "What do you mean?"
Varion observed the individuals in the lab with interest. "What I mean is that this person has the potential to become exceptionally powerful."
"Powerful? Is this some sort of body-enhancing concoction?"
"Yes," Varion affirmed.
Isaac still harbored some skepticism. While research on strengthening the human body had been explored in the past, the discovery of the T-virus had made such endeavors less appealing.
However, it appeared that Varion's potion might hold some promise.
"Just how powerful could he become?"
"I estimate three to four times, ideally up to five times, depending on various factors."
The subjects in the laboratory were gradually becoming less agitated. Their heart rates and breathing were returning to normal. After ten minutes, the man strapped to the table suddenly sat up.
Outside the laboratory, onlookers were shocked. The restraints binding the man were constructed from high-strength polymer materials. How was it possible for him to break free using sheer physical strength alone?
Varion approached the bulletproof glass and looked at the group of people outside. "I remember you. You made me like this. Should I thank you?"
Varion nonchalantly shrugged and nodded, while Isaac was taken aback.
With a loud bang and a cracking sound, the bulletproof glass between them began to fracture. The man, with a maniacal grin on his face, lunged towards Varion, as if he wanted to devour him whole.
"Dr. Varion, this is truly astonishing. Is this potion controllable?" Isaac's eyes were fixed on Varion as if he were gazing at a treasure trove.
Varion shook his head. "Not at the moment. Much more research is required. Dr. Isaac, please understand that while this man may exhibit incredible strength, it's not sustainable for an extended period. Using such power drains his energy rapidly."
Isaac nodded, finding Varion's explanation reasonable. He then turned to his assistant.
"Prepare to recover this experimental subject."
"Dr. Varion, I believe we need to have a discussion."
Varion had concocted this potion on Krypton, and he hadn't anticipated its utility so soon. So far, the results were quite promising.
