Bab 2: CHAPTER 2

A/N:

I'm relatively crap at deck building, along with what kind of deck to choose.

So, please recommend some decks with cool boss monsters that are not after Fusions.

Also, if I did something wrong with the duels, please tell me. I am an IRL Gold 3 Master Duel player who only plays Waifu decks, so criticism is welcomed!

-

"Holy shit, this is so damn cool."

Ken mutters as he places a face down card on the Duel Disk's space as a hologram of the same exact time appeared out of nowhere in the blank space in his room.

This new Duel Disk technology makes it so that shooting out Solid Visions for the holograms were not necessary anymore.

Kaiba and his obsession with fucking card games.

Deactivating it with a button underneath the Duel Disk, the blades for placing the cards closing up and retracting back to its compact mode.

"But still though, it's pretty hefty..."

It feels like it weighed 5 kilos, which was decently heavy for his age of 12, but still it was very light with the tech inside.

Taking the deck out, he flips through the deck with a complicated face as he flops to the bed, staring at his Witchcrafter cards.

This deck is literally his Master Duel one... No engines, no other extra deck monsters, just pure Witchcrafter with [Madame Verre] and [Vice Madame] as the boss monsters.

Hell, his joke cards of adding two copies of [Kuriboh] was in here too. Heh.

With this, he should be able to win the tournament. With a good set-up, the competitors should be all fucked, no offense to them, but they only know how to summon, set, and pass. They don't really have a true combo from what he'd seen.

"Thank you very much, teacher!"

He bowed to show his respects as the teacher waved it off.

"No problem, Ken. You're representing our school, after all. You'll need all the cards you need."

She patted his head before walking away to a spare PC to do her own work. Sure, he was 12 physically, but it's really awkward.

Cracking his fingers, he started by searching for reliable and high rated websites that were recommended by the Official Kaiba Corp website to buy the cards he needed.

Scrolling through the website, he winces at the price of some cards.

"[Ancient Gear Golem] at 445,000 Yen? And it's in used condition too?

[Alpha, Beta, and Gamma the Magnet Warrior] at 120,000 Yen each a piece?

Fucking [Beaver Warrior] at 47,000 Yen?!"

What in the flying fuck?

He just stared at the prices before continuing to scroll, paling at the prices for some obscured cards.

[Black Luster] the ritual monster at 1,442,000 Yen in scratched condition, [Summoned Skull] at 765,000 Yen in used condition, [Jinzo] at 669,000 mint.

Jesus, these cards were expensive...

While scrolling through the page, his eyes caught something as his breath disappeared from his mouth, staring at the description of the card.

Name: [The First Darklord]

Element Type: DARK

Monster Type: Fairy/Fusion/Effect

Requirement: 3 DARK Fairy Monsters

Level: 12

ATK: 4000

DEF: 4000

Your opponent cannot target Fairy monsters you control with card effects. You can only use 1 of the following effects of "The First Darklord" per turn, and only once that turn.

● If this card is Fusion Summoned using "Darklord Morningstar" as material: You can destroy all cards your opponent controls.

● During the Main Phase (Quick Effect): You can pay 1000 LP; Special Summon 1 Fairy monster from your hand or GY in Defense Position.

Price: 5,420 Yen.

Darklords! He knew this of this card since one of his online friends built the deck before for [Ixchel], but he'd never seen one played for a long time.

Quickly finding the related cards of Darklord, he gulped as he instinctively patted the deck on his Duel Disk, inside his backpack.

The cards were super cheap, at most the deck would cost about 10,000 Yen ($70) at the very least if he only bought the core of the deck, which was considered pretty cheap since most decks, if custom-built, costed more than 20,000 Yen ($140) to make.

From the forums, people don't buy Darklord cards because they were too hard and complicated to play with. Duelists in this world are weird.

That meant that his Witchcrafter deck would be hidden in sight until he had to use it, he would have an advantage since the tournament allows you to switch decks. Very useful if he had to duel with his life on the line since no one would expect the sudden switch.

But he sure as hell wanted to use Witchcrafter to dominate...

For now, he decided to just straight buy the cards. Even if he decided not to use them, he would at least have a strong side deck in case anything happened.

Damn, these cards are horribly expensive...

And people say that playing games wouldn't translate to making money... From the pricing of these insane cards, that meant that pros make a fuck ton of money then to stay afloat in the meta.

... If there's even a concept of meta in this world.

Opening the package, he was quite excited as he finally received his newly ordered cards after two days, shipping was pretty fast in this world.

And they were straight from Industrial Illusions, the main company that printed Duel Monsters cards, since no one plays these cards at all, meaning the cards were as fresh as they could get.

Taking his time to sleeve the cards with his black sleeves and making sure to not bend them, he stared at the boss monster of the archetype, [The First Darklord].

It was a good card to wipe the enemies' board, and very good with 4000 ATK and DEF.

To be honest with you, he was shit at the game. He only managed to win his school's tournament because of the shit players. With Master Duel, things lit up when you could use its effect, but this was the "real" world, meaning he has to do it all without the help of the system. That meant that he had to learn the game fresh.

Sometimes, he wonders why he was even here instead of literal professionals of Yu-Gi-Oh instead. The beings in this world must be really drunk when choosing him to transmigrate into their world.

Adding remaining cards to make the deck size 40, he shuffled it thoroughly before testing a 5 hand draw.

... Hmm, this is fine.

Testing more hand draws, he nods at the satisfactory before tilting his head in confusion.

"Wait a second..."

He did another shuffle and drew.

Again, it happened again.

His starting hand will always have [Indulged Darklord].

Every single god-damn time.

That was super suspicious. Was the Heart of the Cards responding? Was this his isekai cheat?

... Bah, what kind of shit is he even thinking about? That's just bullshit. Maybe it was a coincidence.

Taking his out of his Duel Disk (God, this thing was so cool), he reorders it so that the cards will be sorted out before thinking about adding staples to the deck.

"[Called by The Grave]? Na, people don't play like in Master Duel. [Ash Blossom]? Maybe, that will be quite useful... Have to add [Mystical Space Typhoons], very useful back row removers and I have them right now... [Maxx "C"] is useless here since no one Special Summons at all..."

There, that should do it for now.

Now it's time to train combos for the deck.

-

"Yawn..."

He rubbed his eyes as he looked outside the window.

It was almost fucking midnight by the time he finished testing his deck. Time flew by so fast when enjoying.

Ah, he didn't eat dinner. Eh, he's so tired from testing out combos for some reason. It's like his energy disappeared while playing a simple card game.

Keeping it in a deck box, he keeps it in his drawer where most of his Yu-Gi-Oh cards were before heading to sleep.

Turning the air conditioner on, he changed into his pajamas before laying on his bed with a small pillow on his eyes, slowly drifting to sleep.

Because of that, he didn't notice something glowing a hue of white shining out from the creaks of his drawer.

A week later...

The D-Day was finally here. The annual U-15 tournament of Domino City middle-schools. There were a total of 16 schools with 2 students each, the rank 1 and rank 2, so that mean there was a total of 32 players.

Somehow, his school was so shit at the game that him and Tizu were the top 2 in the school. A kid who doesn't even set a back row turn 1 with a 5 hand card.

Maybe that's why the school started supporting him with sponsoring 10,000 Yen for deck building to him. They see his potential.

Heck, the cards that he got online were sponsored by the school. He got to save a lot of money which he was thankful for.

Anyways, that meant that 16 players will advance, and then 8, then 4, then the finals with a 1v1.

Registering, he quickly entered the Domino Public Hall which was a 2-hour drive from his school (The principal hired a driver to drive them there) along with two teachers.

He was holding onto a small case that allowed you to put four decks inside.

In the end, he opted to bring his Darklord and Witchcrafter deck, along with his shit and side deck.

Finding an empty table, they sat down on it as Ken started to recheck his deck. Thumbing through his normal deck, he made the last minute decision to use this for his first few matches.

The tournament allowed you to have 3 side decks to keep changing, as long as they were legal cards that had the Industrial Illusion chip inside, which is what allows the Duel Disks to function in the first place.

Slotting some last minute changes, he shuffles it before an announcement rang on the P.A. system.

"To all competitors, please head to the main hall! I repeat, to all competitors — "

"That's our cue, students!"

His class teacher said with a smile as they stood up from their seat.

Quickly wearing his Duel Disk, he slotted his sleeved deck into it before handing it to the teacher.

"Teacher, please keep it properly."

He hesitated to even give it, but he eventually let her take it before he headed to the hall with Tizu behind him.
