Bab 165: Bite of the Winter (3)

When the knights went back to their posts, Mikael's group and Nicolaus followed behind Aurel to the backyard of the estate. She led them to an area, where she scanned through and reached the part of the overgrown bushes.

As she paused near the stone wall, she brushed aside the foliage dusted with snow. It rustled, the flakes cascading from the leaves when she revealed a hidden hole.

The opening in the wall arched from the ground, resembling a low archway. It was the same usual size, tight to squeeze at and barely big enough for a person to wriggle through if they crouched low.

"…" Aurel leaned back a bit, her brows furrowing in realization. She just confirmed her suspicion that this might be what the wolf cub used to enter the estate. The ground underneath the archway opening had been dug deeper since she last used it, now large enough for the beast's size.
