Bab 104: A Mistress Consumed by Desire (4)

Mirko did not know what he had gone himself into on that early morning. An unexpected knock at the door disrupted the quietness of their home.

With his younger siblings still nestled in the arms of sleep, their soft breaths filled the air. The responsibility fell on Mirko to answer the door as he was the only one awake.

Cracking the door open, Mirko was met by the sight of a man in a clean suit. The man's inquiry pierced the silence, "Is a woman named Mira living here?"

Mirko, cautious, revealed only his head through the ajar door. He hesitated before he responded. "What do you need of my sister, mister?" he inquired. "She's not here. She's working at the Cliffside Villa."

The man's gaze lingered, assessing Mirko, before posing another question, "...Is your name Mirko?"

A sense of unease settled over Mirko as the stranger's identity remained unknown. But soon, disclosed himself as the butler where Mirko's oldest sister, Mira, was in service.
