Determination and all, neither man would stay too long in the mountains. Xuan Jian and Xu Zeng would even considerately take turns hunting to make sure one of them was in Nanshan Estate at any given time. 

If Xu Zeng wanted, he could stay weeks in the solitude of the forest, he now preferred solitude after his experiences in Dongmen, but he would never stay more than a forte night's hunt.

The dragon could share energy with the two eggs, but they also needed some energy from their maternal bloodline. And, the dragon had forbidden him from taking them with him deep into the mountains.

To be fair, Xuan Jian would also leave the eggs behind when he went hunting.

Xu Zeng wasn't scared of fighting like his kin—Xu Feng—not zombies, humans, or animals, but this dragon—Xuan Jian—was of the Krav bloodlines. In comparison, he and Xu Feng weren't even naturally offensive or even defensive.
