After Cale had left for the border, Perez had returned to the house where the patients were cared for. After all the patients had gathered in the common area for mass healing, they had returned to their old places.

Perez's gratitude to Cale continued to grow as he passed each room, seeing patients weak but much better than the day before.

Instead of moans and cries of pain, the laughter coming from the rooms was enough to lift his spirits. Still, what he had just heard prevented him from savoring this peace any longer.

According to Cale's request, he had spoken to all the patients and asked them what they had been eating or drinking lately. He asked them where they drank their water from.

The more Perez asked, the more he got different answers, the more his hope began to fade. As his suspicion grew that this was not the right answer, he finally managed to get a clue.
