As Xavier journeyed through Route 8, he encountered a succession of NPC trainers who challenged him to battle. Displaying his strategic prowess, he emerged victorious in each confrontation, one after another. However, his final opponent proved to be a formidable challenge. The last NPC trainer possessed a duo of Electrodes, each at level 31, accompanied by a Koffing of level 30 and a Magneton of level 31.
This particular battle presented a unique challenge due to the dangerous moves his opponents' pokémon were equipped with. All three of them were capable of employing a move known as Self-Destruct, a high-risk strategy where the user sacrifices itself to inflict heavy damage to the opponent. Moreover, the Magneton in the opponent's roster knew an even more potent move, Explosion, which could deal substantial damage in a wider radius.
Xavier knew that a reckless approach could lead to dire consequences, and he pondered his options carefully. The presence of multiple pokémon capable of these explosive moves meant that he had to devise a calculated strategy that could minimize their impact.
The battle started with NPC sending out Electrode and Xavier sending out Alakazam.
The first Electrode wasted no time, launching a powerful Thunderbolt attack. Alakazam's agile movements allowed it to evade the attack with grace, sidestepping the crackling energy.
With swiftness and precision, Alakazam executed a flawless Teleport maneuver. It vanished from view in an instant, reappearing behind the first Electrode before it could react. Alakazam's horn radiated with psychic energy, and with a surge of power, it unleashed a devastating Psycho Cut attack. As quickly as it had appeared, Alakazam vanished again, successfully using Teleport to retreat just in the nick of time. This escape maneuver occurred just as the opposing trainer commanded the Electrode to initiate a Self-Destruct move.
The battle intensified as the trainer released another Electrode, which wasted no time in launching a Swift attack. Alakazam swiftly evaded the incoming stars. In response, Alakazam focused its psychic energy, channeling it into a razor-sharp Psycho Cut that it aimed at the Electrode. However, the nimble Electrode managed to dodge the attack, displaying its agility.
The Electrode countered with a powerful Rollout attack, which Alakazam skillfully dodged, but the force of the impact enhanced the Electrode's speed. The two opponents continued their dance of evasion and attack, each trying to outmaneuver the other.
Despite the back-and-forth, the situation took a dire turn. Alakazam was caught off guard when the Electrode executed a sudden Self-Destruct move. Although Alakazam managed to escape the blast radius using its Teleport ability, it wasn't without consequences. The explosion had taken a toll on Alakazam, leaving it visibly injured and battered, a reminder of the close call it had narrowly escaped.
Seeing the dire state of his Alakazam, Xavier swiftly ordered it to employ its Recover move, allowing it to regain 50% of its maximum HP and recover from the aftermath of the Self-Destruct attack.
The trainer, not relenting, then sent out a Koffing. Undeterred, Xavier chose to continue the battle with Alakazam. Alakazam took the initiative, summoning its psychic powers to form a deadly Psycho Cut that it launched at Koffing. However, the nimble Koffing managed to dodge the attack.
Suddenly, Koffing deployed a thick Smokescreen, shrouding the battlefield in a cloud of obscuring smoke. The obscurity caused by the smoke posed a challenge for Alakazam's vision, making it difficult to anticipate Koffing's movements.
Taking full advantage of the situation, Koffing exploited the cover provided by the smokescreen. Without wasting a moment, it triggered a Self-Destruct attack. This time, Alakazam's attempt to teleport away was unsuccessful, and it was caught in the explosion along with Koffing.
As the dust and smoke began to settle, both Alakazam and Koffing lay on the battlefield, fainted from the explosive impact. Xavier, promptly called back his Alakazam and sent out Primeape while the NPC sent out his Magneton.
Primeape bounded forward, its focus unyielding. Magneton initiated the encounter with a burst of Thunderbolt, a surge of lightning aiming directly at Primeape. The quick-witted Primeape, however, exhibited remarkable agility, dodging the electrifying attack with a nimble side-step.
Seizing the moment, Primeape charged in, its muscles coiled and ready for action. Its powerful Cross Chop struck the air with ferocity, directed at the hovering Magneton. But Magneton's defensive mechanisms were equally remarkable. It swiftly maneuvered with its magnetic levitation, evading Primeape's attack and maintaining a safe distance.
Undeterred, Primeape instantly shifted its momentum, its focus turning to a swift and precise Low Kick. The move connected with a resounding impact, causing Magneton to wobble in the air momentarily. Seeing this opening, Primeape lunged once again, this time with Night Slash, its claws gleaming menacingly. The Night Slash landed true, tearing through Magneton's defenses and leaving a visible gash on its metallic surface.
The wounded Magneton, aware of the peril it was in, powered up a charge of energy, a sphere of crackling electricity forming before it. As the tension built, Primeape remained alert, ready to respond swiftly. With a brilliant burst, Magneton released its charged Electro Ball, an orb of electric energy hurtling toward Primeape.
Primeape reacted decisively, its instincts keenly attuned. It hopped agilely and evaded the Electro Ball's trajectory. While the Electro Ball collided with the ground behind it, the resilient Primeape continued its assault. With a focused burst of energy, it launched another Low Kick, this time accurately targeting Magneton's unstable hovering pattern.
The impact was effective; Magneton's balance faltered, and it descended closer to the ground. Sensing the opportunity, Primeape capitalized on the situation. It gathered its strength, its muscles flexing with intensity, and executed a powerful Cross Chop with pinpoint precision.
The collision of forces was imminent as Primeape's Cross Chop descended toward the wavering Magneton. However, in a desperate final act, Magneton's metallic forms glowed with an eerie light. In a blinding flash, it triggered its devastating Explosion attack.
The explosion enveloped the battlefield, its shockwave and detonation echoing through the air. The impact was immense, and Primeape was caught in the blast's radius. The force of the explosion sent Primeape hurtling backward, crashing to the ground in a cloud of dust and debris.
Primeape's form lay still amidst the aftermath, its body battered and bruised from the explosive shock. Despite the excruciating pain and the heavy toll the attack had taken, Primeape's fiery spirit remained unbroken. Slowly, it struggled to its feet, every movement marked by determination and resolve.
Primeape locked eyes with the NPC, its gaze burned with visible anger . Xavier hurried over, concern etched on his face, as he knelt down beside his battle-worn companion. Carefully, he assessed Primeape's condition, his fingers gentle as they touched the Pokémon's battered form. Recognizing the severity of Primeape's injuries, Xavier made the decision to call it back into its Pokéball, a mixture of worry and respect in his eyes.
Collecting the hard-earned reward of 1800 Pokécoins, Xavier turned away from the battlefield, his steps heavy with a sense of both accomplishment and concern. He retraced his path back to Lavender Town, making his way to the familiar Pokémon Center. Inside, he entrusted his pokemon to Nurse Joy while he waited for his pokemons to get healed.
