I rushed to the clinic the moment I received the email from my anonymous ally. The alleyway kept replaying in my mind as I paced waiting for them to show. Why hadn’t Demi given the tattooed man the cure? Why was he still alive?

I was betting she never had it. The ultimatum Demi had given me in the alley had only been a ploy to buy enough time that I would lose both Lavender and Cerberus. I wondered if Demi had been aware that she had signed her death warrant the moment she lied to me.

“Mr. Morrigan!” a small mousey nurse called from the doorway by the front desk, cutting me off from revenge fantasies.

She looked nervous, and I hadn’t checked in. We must have had the same mutual friend. Cautious of my surroundings I followed her.
