"You... are going back to work?"
Ethan didn't answer her question. He walked into the room and murmured, "I forgot something."
"No way. You are going back? For real? You're so dedicated to your job as a white-collar worker."
Ethan turned around, glanced at her, and smiled, "I'm not going back. You are going out with me."
"Where?"
"You'll know soon. Get changed. I'll take you out,"
Ethan finished his words and walked out with his phone. Amelia couldn't imagine how busy a white-collar worker could be.
Amelia walked into the bathroom with her bathrobe. She needed to dress up as they were going out for dinner. When she was Amelia Harper, she was offered everything the best. She didn't need heavy makeup, and the lightest one could show her beauty. Her pretty face was a gift from heaven.
Her old clothes were left in the Harper family, and they might have been dumped, but it didn't matter to her. She picked out one knitted jacket and jeans and pinned her hair up with a diamond clip.
"Mike, I need you to do something for me."
"Mr. Frost, please..."
Mike Lee was Ethan's secretary, also his friend. Ethan never employed a female secretary. With Mike dealing with kinds of stuff, he felt at ease.
"Emm... I won't lock the door..."
"No problem, Mr. Frost."
Ethan smiled and entered the room with the phone in his hand.
"Pretty good. Not fancy clothes, but a fancy girl."
He fixed his eyes on Amelia, which made her feel embarrassed. No man had ever stared at her or commented on her that directly.
"So you know apparel design?"
"Not much."
Amelia glanced at him and saw the Rolls-Royce parked outside, "Maybe you should give the car back to your boss. It just belongs to someone else."
Ethan looked at her with a twinkle in his eyes. She felt uncomfortable and avoided his eyes.
"I thought girls loved luxury cars, and a rental luxury car was always better than a low-end car. You are... interesting."
Amelia glanced at him with a provocative smile and said, "Seems a lot of girls love your luxury car. Pity. It is a rental one."
Ethan didn't answer, but he thought the girl was cute sure enough.
"Where are we going?"
"You'll know soon."
Ethan drove the car, and Amelia thought in her mind, "I don't know where we are going, but I'm expecting. He should be bringing me to meet his friends. I can see what kind of friends he made. Just please, don't be bad friends."
"Here we are."
"Chinchol Manor?"
Chinchol Manor was a classy place. A cup of plain water was worth a lot there. People came there to enjoy the service and also distinguish themselves.
"We are having dinner here?"
There was a shock in Amelia's eyes and probe in her tone. She wondered if they got the wrong way, but the Rolls-Royce blended in with the manor.
"Yeah, hurry up. He should be waiting."
"Now it makes sense. His friend is treating us a dinner. There was news about Chinchol Manor days ago. Someone bought this place. Who can that be?" Amelia admired the layout and wondered.
"Hey, you've been waiting?"
"Yeah, quite a while."
Adrian stood up and saw Amelia beside Ethan, "And this is?" He looked at Amelia up and down and thought she was such a pretty creature.
"My wife,"
Ethan said and then invited Amelia into her seat.
"Your friend? Hi, I'm Amelia Frost."
Adrian didn't expect she would greet him first. He smiled and said, "Hi, Adrian Wilson."
"My dear friend, when did you get married? How could it be possible that I hear nothing about it? Good for you. She's gorgeous,"
he said and poked Ethan with his finger.
"You are so busy, man."
"Okay, now you're being sarcastic."
Amelia felt Adrian was familiar. And when she heard the name "Adrian Wilson," she realized who he was,
"Oh, so you are the film star, right? I didn't expect to meet you."
"Mrs. Frost, it's my pleasure to meet you."
He sure was a film star. Every one of his movements was decent. Amelia thought about a saying, "Life is a play."
She was not accustomed to being called Mrs. Frost. Amelia nodded and sipped lemonade.
"Aha, got ya! You are having dinner here without me? How unkind you are!"
A girl walked to their table. Ethan and Adrian smiled. Apparently, they knew each other.
Amelia looked at the girl. She was a nifty girl.
"And this is?"
The girl was surprised by Amelia, by her beauty. She couldn't take her eyes off Amelia.
Adrian tapped on the table and said strangely, "Are you serious? You don't know each other?" He then looked at Ethan.
Ethan glanced at the girl and said, "Ari, this is my wife."
Hearing what he said, Ari froze for a moment and then smiled, "Your wife?" She looked at Ethan and said, "Lucky guy. She is quite pretty... Do your parents know about it? I guess the answer is no."
Ethan turned serious and looked at her, "Let sleeping dogs lie."
Amelia felt embarrassed. Ethan's parents knew nothing about their marriage, and it seemed Ethan didn't want them to know. However, she felt relieved after recalling her purpose in getting married.
Her unpleasantness only lasted a split second, but Ethan noticed it anyway.
