Bab 38: Chapter 38
About fifty ropes swirled around him as they formed a sphere with a radius of about four meters while fifty more ropes headed over to the patriarch of the Azure dragon sect.
The woman had no choice but to assist her husband as the ropes regenerated quite fast and the number was a bit too much for a single person to handle. Alex's head hurt but for some unknown reason, he felt glee while seeing them struggle as once in a while the ropes would head over to attack their daughter.
That single instance was enough to break their teamwork and momentum.
"Fu Yan, get away from here!" the woman shouted as she blocked the rope that headed towards her daughter.
The girl flew backwards on her sword but suddenly she felt the sword beneath her legs gone as she fell downwards. Her fall broke when two ropes twirled around her wrists and pulled her back up where her parents were fighting.
She saw her flying sword now being used to fight her own parents as it slashed at them randomly among the other ropes. Alex didn't want to kill her as she didn't really do anything to him but if he was in a bad situation, he wouldn't mind discarding her.
'She's still useful to distract those two...' he thought as he continued his assault.
Time quickly passed by from minutes to hours as people died and the wounded fled. Han kept sucking out everyone's blood from their bodies while everyone else from the pavilion used their swords to attack and used different kinds of magic.
The two couples were trapped in Alex's assault while the latter seemed relaxed as he floated mid-air.
"Su Ming, what did you do to this kid? From the way he talked, it looked like you were the one who provoked him first."
"I… could sense that he had a lot of vitality and magic stored in his body. So, when he asked me if he could buy my sect's secret pill making methods, I asked him to marry our Fu Yan.
He declined, so I … placed a tracking mark on him and it seems like he noticed. But that doesn't change the fact that he is the prime suspect who stole my things. We need to get it back!"
"Su Ming… you foolish woman. Sometimes, it is better to let someone take things and not pursue it. If you gave him the thing he needed, he would've been our ally.
Look around you, almost all our disciples are dead… It was my fault in pursuing this matter without knowing the whole matter. I really regret following my father's advice and marrying you."
Su Ming grit her teeth as she slashed at the ropes that stabbed at her. Tears flowed down from her eyes as she replayed the words that had come out from her husband's mouth.
"I'm sorry…"
"Apologising to me won't save our live right now." He said coldly as he defended himself from the ropes.
One of his hands was already impaled multiple times while he tried to save his wife. Both of them were tired from fighting for hours while their opponent seemed to be in his peak condition.
"Let's just ask for forgiveness and leave this place. We cannot escape from this kid… if you even try to, he will go for our Yan'er."
The matriarch nodded and the man sighed in relief.
"Young master! We apologise for offending you, my wife is a bit foolish. If you let us, we will withdraw from here and won't cause any trouble." He shouted and the ropes slowed down enough to keep them engaged but not put too much strain on them.
Alex flew closer to them and stopped when there was enough distance between them for him to back away if they launched a sneak attack.
"You want to retreat when you are at a disadvantage huh… let me ask you something. Why should I let you go when we are clearly winning? Two more hours and both of you will be dead along will all the people of your sects."
"We… will compensate you with my sect's soul magic scriptures."
"Hmm… they already have it so there is no need for me to take it from you."
"Young master, this is a new magic that I painstakingly researched. I finished the study only a year ago so I doubt they would have it."
"A very tempting offer…. I need to verify though. What is the name of the spell?"
"Spell?" the man asked and looking at his face, Alex knew that the guy was clueless.
"Seriously… alright the, listen up. A spell can be explained in two parts, the incantation and the wand movement. There's also a third factor called emotion involved but that's advanced concept.
You need both the incantation and wand movement to do magic. Do you understand?"
"Yes, but we don't really use magic that way. We discover whole branches of magic and leave it to the people to find its mysteries. The offensive magic is usually used through magical swords but everything else is branched. We don't use wands like most of the magical people out there.
A few years ago, my parents were killed by demonic cultivators and since I wanted revenge, I began learning and developing methods of using soul magic for offence since it's usually used for defensive purposes only.
I still didn't name it since I didn't plan on teaching it to anyone but now that I will be sharing it with you, you can name it whatever you want."
"I like the concept…" he said as he brought out more ropes and made them swirl around the couple, like a spherical cage.
"You guys wait here. I'll go talk to Han and the others."
The couple looked at the retreating kid and sighed.
"He was holding back all along… maybe he expected us to give up?"
"Maybe he did. We'll never know." Her husband replied in a soft voice before letting out a long sigh.
Han stopped when he saw Alex approaching.
"What happened to the other two, kid?"
"They want to withdraw, so I want your forces to stop attacking."
"That won't be happening, kid. Anyone who attacks my hunters pavilion must die!"
Alex sighed, "Oh well… if that's what you want…"
