Bab 117: A Mysterious Conversation

With the Veil of Radiance obscuring his form, Derek placed a gentle hand on Luna's forehead. Her mind was now open to him, protected barriers crumbling under the radiant aura. 

Taking a steadying breath, Derek closed his eyes and willed his consciousness to slip free of his body. Instantly he found himself in a vast darkness, only the shimmering light of his veil illuminating the void. 

"Luna?" he called out, voice echoing endlessly. No response came, an unnatural silence hanging heavily. Derek steeled himself for what lay ahead, probing the shadows with his light.

Snaking tendrils of inky shadow lashed at the veil, seeking to extinguish its glow. Derek pushed back, bathing more of the void in brilliance to reveal a nightmare landscape. Vines of darkness writhed and twisted, constricting Luna's memories in a choking grip. 

Worst were the grasping hands - disembodied and desperate, clawing at Derek as he passed.
