Bab 109: Ants Among Giants: The True Scope of the VSA

[ For now, you are still not powerful enough to know many things. ]

[ But yes, the Earth is just one of many places where life exists in the universe, beings of immense power, power that you wouldn't be able to imagine in your wildest dreams exist in the universe. ]

[ If you were to compare them to you, you are simply an ant being compared to an elephant, even the two 'G' graded beings on this planet would be nothing more but rabbits compared to them. ]

'I see, so, when you said you wanted to make me the best handler in the universe, you truly meant it.'

[ Yes. ]

'So, the VSA wishes to spread out, to go to space even?'

[ No, no it doesn't ]

'But how are you going to make me the best in the universe then?'

[ You misunderstood, the VSA's wish isn't to spread out because it already exists in the universe, this planet is just one of many where the HA and the VSA exist, it is also far from being the first that had them. ]

The things the system said made Carl stop thinking for a moment as he needed some time to digest what he just learned.

Carl was left in awe of the revelations he had just received. The idea that the VSA and HA existed on multiple planets, with the potential for powerful beings far beyond anything Earth had seen, was mind-boggling. He had always considered the heroes and villains of his world to be at the pinnacle of power, but now he realized they were just a small part of a much larger cosmic order.

As he continued to absorb this newfound knowledge, he couldn't help but feel a sense of insignificance. In the grand scheme of the universe, he was indeed like an ant compared to an elephant. The idea of being the best handler in the universe suddenly took on a whole new level of meaning and difficulty.

[ So, what you should focus on for now is becoming the best handler on this planet. The universe is vast, and the path to becoming a universal expert is long and treacherous. You have to start somewhere, and this planet is your starting point. ]

Carl nodded, understanding the system's perspective. He had a long way to go before even contemplating the vastness of the universe. For now, he needed to focus on his immediate goals and the challenges he faced on Earth.

For now, there was no need for him to even think of matters outside of the planet. He was nowhere close to being powerful enough to even influence things here, let alone the entire planet or further.

It would take a long time for that to happen, which meant that for now, he just had to focus on doing what he did before.

Handling villains.

"Yes Blorg, you can make a death ray, just make sure it's a real one," Carl told Blorg before pausing the conversation and moving to a different call.

"No Nacht, you may not go and fight Yuen, it's clearly a trap, they barely even covered stuff up, there's probably multiple A-grade heroes waiting for you there, perhaps even an S-grade."

"No, I cannot give you my wind, I told you that that's not how it works, so just … just shut up and train or go blast some buildings nearby, cause mayhem, I don't care, but do not go there!"

"I swear that I will personally beat you up if you do that!"

Switching over to another.

"You hacked into what?!!!"

"Rex, have you and Cypher gone absolutely insane?!"

"No, I don't care, I really don't give an f right now, what the hell made you try and hack into the main database of the HA?!"

"Well no shit they found out, did you really think it would be that easy?!"

"They sent how many heroes after you?!"

"Dammit … well it was nice knowing you Rex, better luck in your next life."

"No, there isn't anything I can do, do you really think I'm important enough to mobilize multiple S-grade villains to help you?!"

"Bro, you didn't even get any information!"

"Luna, sorry, I am dealing with … ohhh come onnnn!!!"

"Why would you try acting as the wife of an SS-grade hero who is visiting?!"

"Did you kill her?"

"Good, at least she is unharmed, otherwise he would have definitely tried flipping the entire region to find you."

"Just … just what the hell is wrong with you guys, why would you be doing all of this at the exact same time?!"

"Nacht went where?!"

"That ass, I'm gonna go beat his ass right now, where the hell is Isabella, tell me she hasn't done anything!"

"In the lab, good, that's …"

"She tried making what?"

"Yeah I'm done, I … I don't care anymore man, I swear … I …. I just don't care."

The chaos of handling villains was unending, and Carl found himself juggling one crisis after another, each more absurd than the last. It seemed like his villains had collectively lost their minds, or perhaps they were just trying to test his limits.

As the calls with his villains continued, he couldn't help but feel the immense weight of responsibility on his shoulders. It was a stark contrast to the moments of training and personal growth he had experienced with Isabella, Carla, and Angela. The juxtaposition of his two worlds was both comical and exhausting.

Despite the madness, Carl remained determined to maintain order and keep his villains in check. He had a reputation to uphold, and he couldn't afford to let his villains run rampant. As he dealt with the endless stream of problems, he couldn't help but think about how far he had come since his days as a novice handler.

His journey had been marked by challenges, both personal and professional, and he had grown in ways he never could have anticipated. The newfound mastery of his third ability, the revelations about the universe, and the complex relationships he had forged with Isabella, Carla, and Angela were all testament to his evolution.

Compared to the past, he had truly become a lot better at his job, as well as more powerful, but there were a lot more things he needed to do now, and the responsibility he had was much greater as well.

Upon finishing his work, he went back home, alone as Angela had finished before him. As he entered their apartment, he was greeted with smiles and a warm atmosphere that provided a welcome contrast to the stress of his work.

Isabella, her eyes filled with concern, approached him. "You look like you've been through a lot today, Carl. How are you holding up?"

Carl leaned in to kiss her, grateful for her understanding. "I've had quite the day, but I'm fine. Thanks to your support, I managed to keep things from spiraling out of control."

Carl then suddenly smacked her behind with strength, causing her to slightly jump up as he stared at her with a dangerous smirk on his face.

"What the hell made you try making a real black hole bomb, I got a call during work, you know, you made things difficult for me during a busy day."

"I'm going to have to punish you later for that."

Carla, who had been busy preparing dinner, chimed in. "You did well, Carl and we'll be more than happy enough to help you 'relieve' some tension, but dinner comes first, so come on, go wash up."

Angela, sitting quietly in a corner, simply nodded in agreement. Her presence, though less vocal, was a comforting reassurance.

As they sat down for dinner, Carl couldn't help but reflect on the journey that had brought him to this point. The complexities of his personal life, the challenges of his work, and the mysteries of the universe all swirled in his mind. He knew he was standing at a crossroads, with decisions to make and a destiny to fulfill.

"Carl," Isabella said, breaking the silence, "you've come a long way in your training. Your mastery of your third ability is impressive. But what's next? What are your goals now?"

"Rise up through the ranks and get a higher grade before moving on to greater things."

"Greater things?"

"Yeah, I still haven't thought too much about it, but for now, I'm just going to continue doing my job and improving my strength."

"How is the research going, are you guys getting any results yet?"

Isabella's face suddenly lit up as she smiled before starting to talk. None of the three people present actually had any idea of what the things she was talking about were, but they all listened and nodded their heads, sometimes giving words of encouragement to Isabella.

Isabella also knew that they had no idea what she was talking about and were merely being nice to her, but she just liked talking about the research she and the other scientists in the main lab of the VSA were doing.
