Bab 108: Training, Gaining Control over the New Ability

Despite his nonchalant exterior, Carl knew that the voice in his head had a point. The potential of his mysterious third ability could not be ignored forever. He had witnessed the destruction it could cause during his first encounter with it, and while fear had kept him from exploring it further, the reality of his increasingly dangerous surroundings demanded a change.

As he continued to work, he couldn't help but think about the potential consequences of his reluctance. In the world of heroes and villains, he was walking a thin line, and any advantage, even one as risky as his third ability, could be the key to survival.

His day at the Villain Support Agency (VSA) was filled with the usual activities of supervising villains, coordinating missions, and ensuring that everything ran smoothly.

After a long day at the agency, Carl returned to their apartment, where Carla, Isabella, and Angela had already gathered. Isabella, who had a knack for reading people, noticed the change in Carl's demeanor. She couldn't help but press the issue, her curiosity and concern driving her to push him toward mastering his third ability.

As they sat down and prepared dinner, Isabella cornered him. "Carl, we can't keep ignoring your third ability. It's a crucial part of our strength, and the longer you wait, the riskier it becomes."

Carl, his emotions conflicted, sighed in response. "Isabella, I know you're right, but I need to be sure I can control it. I don't want to put all of you at risk."

Isabella's eyes bore into his. "Carl, you're not just any handler. You're a powerful villain with the potential to change the world. We're willing to take that risk with you."

Her words struck a chord within him, reigniting the internal battle he had been waging. They were partners in every sense of the word, and their fates were intertwined. He knew he couldn't continue to shy away from his abilities, especially when the stakes were so high.

With determination in his eyes, he nodded to Isabella. "Okay, we'll do it. Let's find a safe, isolated place where I can train and learn to control my third ability."

Isabella's face lit up with a smile, her relief and satisfaction evident. She knew that this decision marked a turning point in their journey.

The following couple of hours were a whirlwind of preparations and training for Carl. With Carla's guidance and Isabella's unwavering support, they scouted a remote location where they could safely test and develop Carl's third ability. Carla used her power to secure the area, ensuring they wouldn't be disturbed by heroes or any unwanted interference.

As they arrived at the secluded spot, Carl couldn't help but feel a mix of excitement and trepidation. The potential of his third ability was a double-edged sword, and he was about to confront it head-on. The group set up a makeshift training area, ensuring they had the necessary supplies and medical equipment on hand, just in case.

With the stage set, Carl took a deep breath and began his training. Isabella and Carla stood by his side, offering their guidance and support. Angela observed from a distance, not daring to come close as she was the weakest of the four, if Carl's ability started going out of control, she could easily die.

As Carl delved into the uncharted territory of his third ability, he could feel the raw power coursing through him. It was a sensation, unlike anything he had experienced before. His body shivered with energy as every part of his body resonated with him. Isabella and Carla watched with a mixture of awe and concern as Carl manipulated his ability carefully, doing his best to listen to Carla's voice, as well as the system that suddenly decided to help him out as well.

The initial stages were fraught with challenges. The sheer magnitude of the power was overwhelming, and controlling it was like trying to tame a wild beast. Carl's body bore the brunt of the strain, and he winced in pain as he attempted to find the balance between wielding his third ability and maintaining control.

Days passed, and Carl's determination never wavered. He trained tirelessly, pushing his limits and expanding his understanding of his third ability. He experimented with different techniques, learning to manipulate his power and gain elementary control over it.

Isabella and Carla provided constant feedback and support. They were by his side day and night, helping him fine-tune his control and refine his techniques. Their presence served as a source of motivation and reassurance, keeping Carl's focus on his goal.

Angela, who had initially been an observer, gradually became more involved. She shared her insights into the mechanics of abilities, drawing from her experience in the underground villain community. Her analytical approach added a new dimension to Carl's training, helping him understand the underlying principles of his third ability.

Over time, Carl's progress became evident. The once unruly power began to yield to his command. He could now utilize a small part of his ability without losing any control. His newfound control brought a sense of exhilaration, and he felt a growing sense of confidence in his abilities.

One evening, as the sun set over their training ground, Carl stood before Isabella and Carla, ready to demonstrate his newfound mastery. With a focused expression, he extended his arm, and from his fingertips, a spark appeared as his hand changed before a place some 60 meters away suddenly went through a change before an explosion took place.

Isabella's eyes sparkled with pride as she watched him. "That's incredible, Carl. You've come a long way."

Carl nodded, a sense of accomplishment washing over him. "I couldn't have done it without your help, without all of you, it's still barely controllable, and I can only utilize it with my hands, but even with that, the power that it possesses is truly astonishing.

[ Of course, it is, compared to the other abilities you have, this one is on a completely new level, your wind of desolation is considered to be powerful, about the same level as Isabella's ability, but this one, this one is almost at the peak of what is possible. ]

[ Trust me, the knowledge you have of this ability and its functions are merely a small part of what it truly can do, in the future, you will see just how heaven-defying it is. ]

[ You will need to continue practicing, however, as it is an ability that makes it very easy to lose control, which you already know. ]

Carl nodded to the words of the system. He knew just how close he was to losing control when he gained the ability for the first time, and he knew that right now, he only possessed a fragment of its power.

[ With this ability in your arsenal, getting revenge and killing the person who killed your father won't be a difficult thing at all, just continue training. ]

[ Who knows, perhaps in the future, you might surprise me and reach a higher level well before I initially believed you would. ]

'Well that's nice of you to say, I didn't expect such words coming from you to be honest.' Carl said with a chuckle as the system scoffed at him.

[ Don't act so arrogant, you are still just an ant when compared to the truly powerful. ]

'You still won't tell me more, about those weird levels you spoke of, the true strength of those you say are considered powerful?'

'I mean, I'm already an A-grade villain when it comes to strength, I understand that compared to an SSS-grade I'm still a weakling, but is the difference truly that large?'

'Or are you talking about the two G-grades that are said to be so powerful that even the entire VSA wouldn't be able to go against one of them?'

The system stayed silent as if thinking of what to say.

[ Telling you much wouldn't help you in any way, so I will just say this. ]

[ The SSS-grade is still considered to be nothing special when compared to those truly powerful, the difference between you and an SSS-grade is the difference between a tiny ant and a slightly larger one. ]

Carl blinked several times in quick succession before he sat down in his room and looked out of the window.

'You know, I did some thinking the last couple of days.'

'The scenes I have seen, the scenes of the winds of desolation destroying an entire planet, the third ability that had done even more damage, much … much more damage compared to it, as well as your words.'

'The powers you speak of, those that you say are truly powerful, you're not speaking of the two G-grades, am I right?'

The system stayed silent while Carl simply chuckled before taking a deep breath.

'Your silence is enough of an answer.'

'That alone is enough to make me realize one thing, when talking about powerful individuals, you are not thinking of those on Earth at all, which means that there is more outside of it.'
