Bab 26: Second Round of Pills and Carla's Apartment
And once again, Blorg didn't answer.
After the little 'test' that Lucius had prepared for me, I had tried calling the green bastard, but nothing happened, he wasn't picking up. Well, I already knew that once he gets fired up and starts creating things, he will be gone for a couple of days, so this is nothing unexpected, he will give me a call the moment he finishes, that's what he has always done.
'So, are the pills back in the apartment?' I asked the system which gave me a quick 'yes' before going silent.
Weird.
She usually loves to annoy me and talk all kinds of nonsense, perhaps she was tired?
Maybe she finally realized how great I am?
Doesn't really matter, to be honest.
Not like I care.
It's just a dumb system.
One that doesn't even help me much.
Just an annoying little –
[ Shut the hell up, I can hear everything you're thinking you weird bastard! ]
And there she is, hehe.
I laughed to myself before picking up my bag and leaving the office. Working time was over, so I can go back home and finally use the second strength pill, as well as the body cleansing pill.
This should be good.
It's a shame I didn't get more strength pills though.
[ You wish, even if you did, I would only recommend you to use one a day, your body is still not strong enough, you can use 3 more maximum before hitting a dead end, only by training via the manual and by getting somebody evolution pills will you be able to use more strength pills, same goes for the ability pills and the like. ]
'Huh, hey, I didn't know about that!'
'Why didn't you tell me something so important.'
[ You – ]
'I didn't ask, blah, blah, blah.' I said as I walked out of my office.
'You're so damn predictable, you know that, right?'
[ Got to hell. ]
'If it will get me away from you, why not?'
[ … ]
Won that exchange.
I got in the elevator and made my way up, happy for getting that brief and short victory over the system while being excited about taking the pills and becoming even stronger tonight. Today was a good day, that's for sure.
As I walked over to my car and entered it, I suddenly froze.
"What are you doing here?" I asked Carla who was sitting right next to me.
"Waiting for you, let's go," Carla said without skipping a beat as she looked at her nails.
"Ah, go where?"
"Well home silly, where else?" Carla asked me as she jumped slightly in the seat and smiled at me.
"And home would be?"
"Your apartment," Carla said seriously as she stared at me.
"I did my best to save you from your boss, even though in the end there was no need for it, so I believe that warrants some goodwill from you, as well as some 'compensation'." Carla said as she stared straight into my eyes and licked her lips.
'Dammit, I can't let her go with me, I have to take the pills tonight, I don't want to wait.'
My mind quickly spun as I created multiple excuses as to why she can't go with me tonight, but in the end, I just decided to be honest, at least partly.
"Carla, I can't bring you with me tonight, I have something to do, and I have to do it alone."
Carla looked at me with interest.
"I'll make it up to you tomorrow, but today I can't, I can't bring you to my place, alright?" I asked Carla who simply smiled at me.
"Alright, I'll be waiting then," Carla said before getting out of the car and waving at me.
'That … that was much easier than I expected.'
[ Yeah, she is probably planning something, you better be prepared, but hey, with the two pills you're going to take, you should be able to play around with her better than last time. ]
I shook my head as I drove back to my apartment, all the while being excited by the fact that I am going to grow stronger once again.
Unbeknownst to Carl, however, Carla did not simply go back or go to her place.
She was running through the city with incredible speed, speed that was many times above his car's top speed even. She only left a blur for the people that she passed next to, and in mere minutes, she had arrived at the place where Carl's apartment was.
She went up and entered the apartment right next to Carl's before taking off her work clothes and lying down on the sofa before turning on the TV.
One would be shocked to see the inside of her apartment as from the outside, the entire building looked run-down, parts of the façade had peeled off and were gone, just what one would expect from a cheap place where you would stay for a day or two to save some money.
Inside Carla's apartment, however, it was a different story.
The entire place was covered with a thin black layer of nanobots. They changed the look of the entire apartment, giving it a sci-fi feel. Carla had even changed the furniture completely, putting in brand new, modern furniture inside.
Some of the things she had were not supposed to even work in such a run-down apartment, but they somehow did.
A giant, 90-inch TV was on the wall and Carla was currently lying on the sofa in her underwear and watching a show.
'I wonder what he is up to, he was so serious, hehe.' Carla smiled as she thought of Carl whose apartment was right next to hers. Some time passed, and soon, Carla was able to hear the sound of Carl's apartment door opening.
She quickly used some sort of device in her hand and pointed it at the wall, which allowed her to easily see through it and see Carl who had just returned from work.
'Since he was so serious, I shouldn't pry, I'll give him some privacy.' Carla thought as she turned off the device and continued watching her show. Had she continued, she would have been able to see Carl opening up two small boxes on his kitchen table before staring at them excitedly.
[ Take the pink one first, that's the body cleansing one. ]
The system like to make me mad and to do all sorts of annoying things, but I know that she doesn't mean me harm, everything the system has done so far was for my benefit, so I listened.
I took the pink pill and went in the shower, just like before.
If this thing was really for 'cleansing', then I can only imagine the things that will come out of my body after using it.
I placed the pill in my mouth and it dissolved immediately before going down my throat. A burning sensation took over me for an instant before it turned to a soothing, relaxing sensation that made me calm and relaxed.
Over half an hour passed in such a manner before I suddenly felt something. Well, to be more exact, I smelled something.
'Dear god, what is that stench, holy hell!' I thought as I opened my eyes, albeit barely, before looking down.
Black ooze was coming out of me, and it seemed that most of it was already out. I quickly turned on the shower and water started falling on my body, washing away the ooze, but I still had to scrub myself and help the water dissolve the ooze.
'Oh my god, this stinks so bad!'
I slowly let the ooze go down the drain as I was worried it might clump together and get stuck in the pipes, which would give me even more trouble.
But the stench, dear god, the stench was still present.
"I need to take a shower, oh god, I need to "
[ No, take the red pill now, the best effect will be after the cleansing had taken place, not to mention that some more things might come out in a while, so it's better to do it like this and then shower. ]
The system told me, which made me nod my head, albeit barely.
I took the red pill and got ready for the pain. I had already taken it once, so I knew just how bad it hurts.
Fortunately, even though there was still a horrible pain from the process, it wasn't as bad as before, at least I thought it wasn't.
[ Your assumption is correct, the more you take the pill, the more your body will get used to it, until finally, the pill will no longer work, at that point, you need to take different, higher quality pills to strengthen yourself. ]
'I see, well, thanks for the explanation, I'm gonna shower now, the stench is still a bit too much.' I said as I turned on the shower again and took my shower before stretching a bit.
Unfortunately, I broke the door of the shower once again as my strength had risen and I didn't have full control over it.
