Bab 5: The Blood Prince
"Nacht." I simply said with a deadpan voice as Nacht chuckled.
"Hey, we're gonna be working together for a while, no need to be so hostile to me, trust me, you don't want me returning the favor." Nacht suddenly said with a cold voice as a red aura appeared around him.
That was when I knew who the real Blood Prince was, who the person that had killed Nicht's parents, as well as half of the city truly was. Nicht truly wasn't a person that could do such a thing, but Nacht, well he was a different story altogether.
"So you are real."
"As real as you can see, handler," Nacht said with a cold smile on his face as he looked into my eyes.
"See, handler, I know you, I know the conversations you have had with Nicht, everything that you guys talked about before."
"I was patient, I waited for a perfect moment to show myself, to finally get that weakling to give me control over this body, and he did."
"You played a part in it, a very important one, of course, there was no way you would have known that his parents were bastards who would torture even their own son, nor that I was waiting for such a moment."
"How are you even real, is this a part of Nicht's ability, is this how you came to be?" I asked Nacht with great interest. As much as it hurt me to say this, I didn't really care that much about Nicht's disappearance, he was fine, that much I was certain of, so until I was able to figure out how to bring him back, how to return the control of his body to him, there was nothing for me to worry about.
"Ah, his ability, sorry, but that was not our ability, that was merely a side effect, a small portion of our ability that he had used because he was scared of it."
"Well, since we will be spending a lot of time together in the future, with you being my handler and all, I guess I can explain some things, huh?" Nacht said with a warm smile before snapping his fingers.
The blood-red aura that had been around Nacht disappeared. It was suddenly in front of me, and it slowly turned into a figure, a figure of Nacht.
"Speaking face to face is much better, no?" Nach asked as I glanced at his body that was on the screen, he was still there, smiling at me.
"Don't be that surprised, this is the max I can do right now, I can see you, so my ability allows me to create a phantom near you, but as you can see, it's weak, has little to no combat capabilities and can easily be destroyed, come on, try punching m-"
I already punched him before he had finished the sentence, his head exploded in red dust before forming back together.
"Nice to see that you aren't a coward," Nacht said with a smile before disappearing from the spot, the red aura appearing back around Nacht.
"This is our true ability, this red aura you can see is our power, it can become whatever I want it to be, it can be the sturdiest defense in the world, capable of defending me from anything, but it can also become a weapon, as well as a person, a vehicle and more."
"That's … reality manipulation, you're telling me that your real ability falls into that specter?"
"Correct, the one you have previously known about, the matter control that Nicht could do upon touching something was merely a severely limited version of our true ability that he had used."
"You see when he was a kid, Nicht had used the ability once, and that scarred him for life, prompting him to subconsciously seal it away," Nacht said as he leaned forward and smiled at me in a fashion similar to how a schoolgirl would do to a senior.
"He was scared, the uncontrollable power he had released at that time destroyed a good portion of his home, and resulted in the death of 18 servants, 2 of which had been in the same room as he was."
"It was then that Nicht sealed his ability subconsciously, but that was not all, thanks to the ability, one that can shape and change reality at will, he created me, his second half, the one that held all the negative emotions he didn't want to feel," Nacht said with a dark smile as I stared at him.
"I truly was the voice in his head, the person telling him to do all sorts of nasty things, but after a while, I noticed that my way wasn't working, especially after he met you, you see, Carl, you were the one person that Nicht severely needed, but so did I."
"I started acting differently, trying to manipulate him and slowly coax him to give me more freedom until his idiotic parents decided to go full ballistic and torture him, it took me only a little while to persuade him to give me full control, but he had two conditions," Nacht said as he lifted two fingers at me.
"First, I was to give him full control over the body for the next couple of days, I didn't know why, and I don't even know what he has done after the first day however, I know everything he knows, so I am as confused as you are."
"The second thing was that I would continue to cooperate with you, that I would accept you as my handler and never harm you, and honestly, those conditions were nothing special, so I agreed."
"Wait, you don't know what happened after the first day, so you don't know what me and Nicht talked about a couple of minutes ago, you didn't see that ball he had with him?" I asked Nacht, well, I blurted it out to be more honest.
I doubted that Nicht would do something to harm me, but I was kind of hoping that Nacht could tell me what he had done to me, what that ball of light he had sent over was.
"A ball, what ball, what are you talking about?" Nacht asked with a suspicious gaze as he looked around him.
"Sorry, handler-villain client confidentiality, I can't tell you anything," I said as I shrugged my shoulders, acting as if I didn't notice Nacht's angry expression.
"Anyway, let's get down to business, what are your plans for the future Nacht?" I asked him as I sat down on my chair before leaning into it. Nacht stayed silent, merely staring at me without speaking, I could see that he was still a bit upset over my previous words, seems like he really didn't like to be kept in the dark.
"I will find out sooner or later, you know?" Nacht said as I chuckled, it was like looking at a kid who was getting grumpy because you told him no.
"I don't doubt that Nacht, but come on, as your handler, it is my responsibility to take care of you, to help you make plans, tell you where you are making a mistake, to be the one that is giving you offers from the agency or other villains and so on."
"So, what are your plans in the future, you wanna terrorize some cities, maybe go on a rampage and kill a couple of heroes?" I asked him with a wide smile on my face, I loved it when they took the last option.
"No, I need to get my own place first, this place is a dump, get me some hideout that is away from the city, it just needs to be secretive."
"I see, what's your budget, do you need the agency to give you a loan?" I asked Nacht as I started searching for good hideouts that were near him.
"My budget is 2.5 million dollars, that should suffice to get a good hideout, no?" Nacht asked me while I stopped typing.
"Sorry, how much?"
"I said 2.5 million, I did just kill Nicht's parents, they were quite rich you know?"
"Not to mention that I took quite some money from the banks in the town, so money won't be a problem for the near future."
"I see, well, I'm sure we can find some hideouts, you prefer a mountain hideout, village, underwater, maybe behind a waterfall?" I asked him with a smile as Nacht scoffed.
"As long as it's hidden and has plenty of room, I'm fine with it, just don't make it further than 2km from any city."
"Got it, well, I found 6 near you, two are in a mountain, 2 in a village next to a city, one is inside a river in the city, while the last one is in a forest."
"Forest."
"Okay, sending you the coordinates and data, also I will-"
"I see, what else?"
"Hmmm, Carl, hey, what's wrong with you?"
At that moment, I couldn't really hear Nacht as my focus had completely shifted to the words that had suddenly appeared in front of me.
