It was not stable as well, but he could navigate around the more dangerous zones, and avert colliding head on with particularly unstable spatial distortions.

The time within the the link between the Worlds was not indicative of the time passing in either world. If two people were to enter the link at roughly the same time, no matter how long they spent inside the link individually, they would exit it at also roughly same time.
