Bab 3: Heir of Annihilation and Heir of Destruction II.
After the start of the meeting had been announced, an awkward silence descended upon the room for a few seconds until Kaiser took the initiative and spoke up.
"Let's not dance around the bush and get straight to the point. I have been informed that a rebellion is being organized by some noble houses, and I have been sent as a representative by my family to participate in this war." Kaiser said and waited for a response from the people present.
"I assume that Grayfia Lucifuge informed you of most of the things that are currently happening." Zeoticus said.
"You would be correct." Kaiser answered honestly.
"What do you have to gain from fighting in this war?" asked Viran.
"The four Satans had a hand in my family's downfall, so seeing them in despair would ease my heart quite a bit. Other than that I'm sure it's not too hard to figure out why my family suddenly decided to resurface." Kaiser said with a smile.
"Influence and power. With your strength you could achieve great merits in the war and through that your family would have a lot more leeway to operate and climb up the hierarchy." Venelana said while eyeing Kaiser.
Kaiser didn't answer show just flashed a small smile.
"It doesn't really matter why he fights against the Satans, does it? As long as he doesn't betray us then whatever his reason may be I'm fine with it." said Sirzechs.
"The one who needs to be most cautious about betrayal is not you but me." said Kaiser.
"Yet here you are locked in a room with people who might be your enemies." said Akanaz with an amused smile.
"I trust that you guys wouldn't be so ignorant to attack someone that could become a potential ally with strength that cannot be overlooked. Plus it's not like you pose a threat to my or my maid's well-being." said Kaiser.
"Those are some big words." said Akanaz while flaring his power.
"Please stop flaunting your meagre amount of strength. The only person who could take me on in this room is Sirzechs and even then I dare to say I still feel confident to be able to escape together with my maid." said Kaiser.
"Please stop with the hostilities, we are here to discuss an alliance that would only bring benefits to both sides." said Viran trying to diffuse this situation.
Zeoticus sent a dangerous look towards Akanaz and he withdrew his power and clicked his tongue.
"Thank you. As I said this alliance or more like cooperation would be beneficial for both sides. The rebellion would get a fighter who could take out the Satans' right-hand men and Kaiser would get the opportunities he is looking for to make his house rise again." said Viran.
"This would definitely boost our chances further, but there are a lot of families who are biased against the Vesperion family." Zeoticus said with a thoughtful face.
"The current tension will keep them down for the time being. They aren't dumb enough to start conflicts left and right when the whole Underworld will soon be plunged into chaos. They will be focusing on their own things. Whatever happens after the conflict is settled is another story which is for me to deal with." Kaiser said and the people in the room all nodded in agreement.
"Well, I would say that it is settled then, welcome to the rebellion Kaiser Vesperion. Any objections?" asked Zeoticus the people in the room and everyone shook their heads.
"Very well. You actually approached us with perfect timing, because tomorrow is the day of the first attack against the four Satans. There is a military station about 50 kilometres from the western border of the Gremory territory under the jurisdiction of Satan Beelzebub. We would like to add you to the force that will be attacking that base." said Zeoticus and then motioned for Viran to take over. The man nodded and started speaking.
"The force will be made up of Gremory and Sitri soldiers. the information we got said that their force is being commanded by one peak-level ultimate-class. Their forces are made up of high-class, mid-class and low-class soldiers. We estimate that the numbers of high-class fighters are around 800, 20.000 mid-class and 50.000 low-class. There are 20 bases like this spread around the Underworld. Other families will be attacking other such bases. We planned to send a similar force to what they have but we planned on sending 2 ultimate-class fighters instead of one. But with you going there both of the ultimate-class fighters can go to other bases to provide backup."
"You are already trusting me with leading one of the attacks? You know next to nothing about my abilities and leadership skills." said Kaiser with a raised eyebrow.
"Call it a leap of faith. If we don't trust you, how could we possibly gain your trust in the future?" said Sirzechs.
"That is a fair point. Alright, I'll lead the attack but I'll be taking my maid with me." said Kaiser.
"Of course, that's not a problem. You could also stay for the night and you can meet with your soldiers first thing in the morning. Also, here take this box of cigars as a sign of good luck. This is one of my favourites." said Zeoticus and took out a box of cigars from his pocket and handed it over to Kaiser who took it and put it in his pocket.
"Thank you. Then if nobody minds of course I shall also take you up on your offer to stay the night." said Kaiser before standing up and extending his hand towards Zeoticus who also stood up and they shook hands. This process was repeated with Viran and Akanez.
Zeoticus called for a maid and instructed her to take Kaiser and Grayfia to a room. The maid bowed and did as she was told. Once they arrived in front of a door the maid bowed again and left them. Kaiser opened the door and entered the room followed by Grayfia who closed and locked the door behind them.
"This honestly went better than I expected, but it took a lot more time than I thought it would. I felt like we had only been there for maximum 2 hours, but it is already evening." said Kaiser while looking at Grayfia.
"It indeed went well, but please don't let your guard down under any circumstances." Grayfia answered while scanning the room for anything suspicious.
"Don't worry, I'm scanning the close perimeter at all times." said Kaiser as he sat down on the bed and looked at Grayfia who kept just standing still.
"Are you planning on standing there all night or will you sleep as well?" Kaiser asked Grayfia.
"As devils, it isn't a necessity to sleep every night." said Grayfia.
"I know that. But even if our bodies can handle the stress, the mind needs as much rest as it can get. Tomorrow first thing in the morning we will be meeting with the soldiers who will be under our command. After that, we will be going to a battlefield. We cannot allow our minds to not be in top shape. So you need to sleep as well." said Kaiser.
"Understood." replied Grayfia and took a seat on the other side of the bed.
"I forgot to ask, but what kind of magic do you specialize in? I can tell that you are in the peak-level of ultimate-class, but other than that I don't know much." asked Kaiser.
"I specialize in ice and water magic." Grayfia answered shortly.
"Alright then. I'll go clean up then you can do so as well then we can head to sleep." stated Kaiser as he stood up and went into the bathroom and came out 15 minutes later with a towel around his waist and wet hair.
"There is a small problem. I don't really have anything to wear to sleep. I can probably wear the same clothes I did today for tomorrow as well, but a suit isn't the most comfortable sleepwear." said Kaiser.
"There is no need to worry master. I have stored sleepwear and several different outfits for you with the help of space magic." said Grayfia and made a pyjama appear out of nowhere.
"Quite convenient. Thank you." said Kaiser and went back into the bathroom to change and came back shortly after and laid down on the bed.
After Kaiser was finished Grayfia also went into the bathroom and came out 20 minutes later wearing a blue nightgown. She walked to the bed and lay down as well.
'She sure looks alluring.' thought Kaiser before closing his eyes.
"Goodnight Grayfia." said Kaiser.
"Goodnight master." Grayfia replied and they both went to sleep.
